During the month of Adar we say: When we enter the month of Adar, our joy increases. “Mi’she’nichnas Adar Marbim B’Simha” One way we celebrate that Haman's plot to annihilate the Jews failed, is by sending portions of treats, called Mishloah Manot, to one another. We are excited to wish all our congregants a joyous Purim, by giving a Mishloach Manot box to all our congregants.

Rosh Chodesh means "head of the month." The month begins with the appearance of the new moon (Rosh Chodesh). As early as the 1970s, Jewish women have been marking Rosh Chodesh as a time for prayer and study. The month of Adar is traditionally a time when we increase our joy as we get ready for the celebration of Purim later in the month. Join Cantor Shafritz and Sisterhood to bring in this month of happiness with some nosh, study, and a craft activity.

Defend your Jewish Heritage and Combat Antisemitism | |
March 9th & 10th // Congregational Beth Jacob // In Person
Antisemitism and anti-Zionism continue to be on the rise. In the face of this hatred, our most valuable assets are knowing who we are as Jews, understanding options for responding to current narratives in the media and the streets, as well as strategies for having meaningful conversations with our kids about all of this. Congregation Beth Jacob in Redwood City is hosting 3 adult workshops and 2 teen workshops on March 9th and 10th in order to examine Jewish identity and pride as a backdrop for understanding and responding to antisemitism
