It is our mission for students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and achieve their personal lifelong goals by using appropriate pathways to success.
Letter from the Principal

Dear Golden Bear Family,

I want to wish you a Happy New Year. It is my hope that 2012 will provide for us a renewed focus, drive and the rewards that are due to our students as a result of our investment in their future success. I am happy to return to Temecula Valley High school to report that first semester grades indicate a noticeable decline in the percentages of students failing classes as compared to this time last year. I believe this is attributed to the collective efforts of all members of the Golden Bear Family to intervene and provide scaffolds for all of our students.

My administrative team and I in 2012 will continue to invest in supports and assurances that both remediate and enrich all students who attend Temecula Valley High School. I am passionate about our students and their future success and will continue to work hard in supporting the entire family of Golden Bears through a focused vision on success for all. We look forward towards making visible steps towards achieving this by offering various certificate workshops for adult supporters of our Golden Bears, continue and strengthen our during as well as after-school intervention programs, in addition, we are continuing to improve the manner in which we communicate information for all.

I believe it is more than achievable for us together to make 2012 a year of great accomplishments for Temecula Valley High School. This can only be done through our collaborative efforts and focus on making a lasting IMPACT on the lives of all our Golden Bears.

Richly,

Dr. Lawrence

By Steve Rapaport

Temecula Valley High School Athletics wishes you and your family a healthy and peaceful New Year.

On Friday, January 13, TVHS will be hosting the Battle for the Belt Wrestling Tournament.  There will be 70 high schools attending.

The senior parking lot (lot "B" & lot "C") will NOT be available for parking.  Seniors will be parking at the Sports Park and should only cross at the intersection when walking to and from the school.

Additional security and police will be on duty to help keep our students safe.

The senior lot will still be open for drop off and pick up.  Please arrive 5 minutes earlier than normal to allow for extra traffic.

Thank you for your support.

We are now in the winter season of high school athletics.  Boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, girls' water polo and wrestling are the sports that are available to our students.  General admission for basketball and wrestling is $5.  Children and students with ID are $3.

Game Schedules for each team are available on the TVHS website.  Under "Quick Links" on the left side of the home page, click on "Athletic Schedules".  Please check schedules prior to a game as changes may occur in location or time.

All athletes must be clered to tryout or participate in athletics.  This means that they must have a physical exam and turn in their completed Athletic Packet to room 201.  Athletic Packets are available on the TVHS website under "Athletics".  Click on "Athletic Office" and then download the "Athletic Packet".

Please call Mr. Rapaport, the Athletic Director, at 695-7300 ext.2118, if you have any questions regarding athletics.

Health News

December is here, a time of cheer for many and a time of stress for others.  No matter where you are or what you are experiencing take time to relax. There is no single relaxation technique that is best for everyone. When choosing a relaxation technique, consider your specific needs, preferences, fitness level, and the way you tend to react to stress. The right relaxation technique is the one that resonates with you, fits your lifestyle, and is able to focus your mind and interrupt your everyday thoughts in order to elicit the relaxation response.

Here are some tips to help you relax: take a walk, read a good book, play a game, turn off the noise or listen to joyful music, spend time with friends, take 10 deep breathes, draw or color, visit your favorite place, even if just in your mind. In all the hustle and bustle remember that adequate sleep, good nutrition and plenty of fluids as well as stress reduction will help keep you fit and healthy.

Deep Breathing

The key to deep breathing is to breathe deeply from the abdomen, getting as much fresh air as possible in your lungs. When you take deep breaths from the abdomen, rather than shallow breaths from your upper chest, you inhale more oxygen. The more oxygen you get, the less tense, short of breath, and anxious you feel.

  • Sit comfortably with your back straight. Put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach.
  • Breathe in through your nose. The hand on your stomach should rise. The hand on your chest should move very little.
  • Exhale through your mouth, pushing out as much air as you can while contracting your abdominal muscles. The hand on your stomach should move in as you exhale, but your other hand should move very little.
  • Continue to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Try to inhale enough so that your lower abdomen rises and falls. Count slowly as you exhale.

Hope you all enjoy a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
