Move Minneapolis, a program of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber, promotes sustainable transportation – mass transit, carpooling, shared-mobility, biking, walking and telework – through outreach and education for downtown Minneapolis employers, workers, and residents.
World Car-Free Day was born in 1996 and is now celebrated in over 1,500 cities around the world that encourage sustainable commuting.

Move Minneapolis designed a regional event we call Car-Free MSP . We celebrate Car-Free MSP on Thursday, September 19 th , individuals vie for a new bike, employers compete for the right to be named the “best workplace for car-free commuters”, and everyone celebrates with a downtown party.

Car-Free MSP is a celebration for ALL whether your company is participating or you’re the lone sustainable commuter at your workplace. Tell us your commuting story and win a bike!
Car-Free MSP Employer Competition

Aim to win a trophy, no matter what your company size. Winners are determined by the number of employees who do not drive alone to work on Car-Free MSP Day as a percentage of their overall downtown Minneapolis workforce.

Taking the Transportation Benefits Show on the Road

Like Bob Dylan, the Move Minneapolis crew is perpetually on tour. Becky, Robert, Mary and John love an excuse to slide out of our office and meet with the people who make Minneapolis tick. We want to hear your stories. How does your staff get to work? What transportation benefits does your workplace offer? What works, what doesn’t in your daily commute?

Move Minneapolis brings the collective knowledge of our transportation partners to you. Metropass saves your company time and money using transit. The ABC Ramps offer carpool parking for $20 /month. A corporate Nice Ride or HOURCAR account provides a fleet of transportation options to your staff. Move Minneapolis fine tunes transportation that’s fast, fun, affordable and easy on the environment.
