Restarting Your Device
It's become a bit of a gag at this point: when something isn't working, check and see if restarting it fixes the issue. Although it's become a bit of a joke, is there any truth to it?
The simple answer is yes.
Even people who are in the field and take on a technician role to troubleshoot issues can be surprised by how often the ultimate fix winds up being a restart. The important thing to remember about this simple fact, though, is how it can be used as a preventative measure.
In fact, many issues that are resolved by a restart could have been prevented with restarts. That's why it's always best practice to shut down and/or restart devices on a regular basis. It's also important to note that simply Locking, Signing Out, or putting the computer to sleep does NOT accomplish this. In all of those scenarios, the computer will remain up and the device does not get the chance to install updates and/or refresh it's memory.
