Summer Canvas Course Sites

Reynolds Summer 2024 Blueprint homepage

Summer 2024 Canvas course sites have been created and you should see them within Canvas. Please remember, if you are scheduled to teach a summer 2024 course and do not see it within Canvas, reach out to your Dean or Program Head to ensure that you are listed as the instructor of record in SIS. If you have confirmed that you are listed as the instructor of record and you still do not see your course listed in Canvas please email canvas@reynolds.edu. Student enrollment will be turned on Friday, May 3, meaning you will not see students in your spring 2024 course until that time.

If you would like to request your courses be combined into one Canvas course site you must first email your Dean for authorization. They will then email canvas@reynolds.edu with their approval. CETL cannot combine any courses without your Dean’s approval and all requests to combine courses must be received by May 10 for any course beginning on May 20

Welcome Deverick!

CETL is pleased to welcome our new Instructional Designer Deverick Strand. Mr. Strand comes to us from VCU where he was an instructional designer for VCU online after a long career in K12 public education where he worked a number of years as not only a teacher, but a curriculum specialist and instructional coach. Mr. Stand is also a doctoral student in Education. In his spare time, Mr. Strand likes to travel, learn new technologies and coding languages, and spend time with his dog Benny.

Welcome to CETL and Reynolds, Deverick!

HyFlex Champions are tasked with training, mentoring, and supporting faculty in HyFlex teaching and learning. They collaborate with faculty members from their respective schools, providing training in HyFlex pedagogy and assisting those who require support with classroom technology and instruction. HyFlex Champions also provide ongoing mentoring to promote overall success with HyFlex courses at Reynolds.

If you are scheduled to teach HyFlex in an upcoming semester, or just curious to learn more about this modality, please reach out to the champion in your respectful school.

As always, CETL offers HyFlex workshop trainings throughout the fall and spring semesters. You can also schedule a 1:1 consultation with a member of the CETL team for a customized HyFlex training. Additionally, please bookmark and take advantage of our recently redesigned HyFlex Teaching and Learning Resource webpage.

In Case You Missed It!

CETL is setting records this semester with the number of Faculty Learning Opportunities (FLOs) offered. Currently we are on track to offer 52 FLOs by the end of the spring semester! Just last spring 2023, we offered 24.

With so many workshops, speaking events, and other FLO sessions, we know it can be a challenge to attend those that interest you, especially with your busy schedules. That's why CETL makes the effort to record as many FLOs as possible. If there was a recent FLO you were interested in but could not attend, chances are we recorded it. Check out our FLO Recordings page on the CETL website to view them today!

Here are a few of our most recent FLOs that are now available to view:

"Reduce Student Costs, Boost Success: Open Resources for the Win"

During this session, Reynolds Librarians Denise Woetzel and Robin Pesko talked about navigating OER repositories and metafinders to find resources for your classes, previewing and requesting textbooks through the VIVA Textbook Faculty Portal, formats available through the Open Textbook Library, creative commons licenses, best practices for attributing resources, and VIVA Open Adoption and Course grants.
