VICTORIA TURNER, PIANO: Victoria has an extensive background in liturgical music, arranging and performing music for choir, offertories, and other parts of church service. She attended Hyles-Anderson College and completed her Masters in Music Education; she has several years of experience in group and private music instruction (including a focus on teaching children and adults with special needs). In addition, she has several pieces published, and is currently working on a sacred hymn piano solo book.
THOMAS MILSCHEWSKI, VIOLIN: Thomas is one of Fox River Academy's teachers who participates in our Teacher Internship Program, which offers exceptional lessons taught by students (mentored by FRAMA staff) at a discounted tuition. Thomas was born in Yekatarinburg, Russia and moved to Yorkville, IL. proceeding his adoption the following year. He started violin in school during the 5th grade in Yorkville, and also started piano lessons the same year at Fox River Academy as a student of Ms. Ellen Avery. He carried on his violin studies with Dr. Casey McGrath and currently is pursuing a Music Education Degree at Northern Illinois University. Thomas enjoys teaching all ages and makes his lessons enjoyable for all of his students.
TERRY PEEPLES, PERCUSSION: Terrance P. Peeples is a music lecturer/percussion instructor who has spent over 20 years teaching private and group instruction, along with academic courses including Percussion, History of American Popular Music and History of African-American Music classes. Mr. Peeples has a Masters, Bachelors and Associates degrees in Percussion Performance with a minor in Music Education from Western Illinois University, Illinois State University and Joliet Jr. College. He is currently a member of the Percussive Arts Society, the Vic Firth Education team and a percussionist for www.callaloochicago.com.
SARAH SMITH, FLUTE: Sarah Smith is a dynamic flutist who has made appearances throughout the United States and Canada. Sarah started teaching flute when she was fourteen years old and has experience teaching all ages and levels in private and group settings. She has also conducted flute choirs and children's choirs, and was an adjunct faculty member at Salt Lake Community College, where she taught general music appreciation and music theory.
Sarah received her master of music degree in flute performance and pedagogy in 2004 from Brigham Young University, where she was a teaching assistant and a full scholarship recipient. She taught college-level flute lessons and conducted master classes for the BYU Flute Studio, BYU Summerfest, and private flute studios. She received her bachelor of music degree in flute performance in 2003 from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She studied with world-renowned flutist Alexa Still, who is currently on faculty at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Sarah has placed in many competitions, including the UFA/Summerhays national flute competition, Utah State Fair flute competition, and two concerto competitions. She is also an experienced adjudicator, having judged district solo and ensemble, Federation Flute Festival, and various concerto and scholarship competitions.
CAROLYN WRIGHT, CELLO: Carolyn Wright began studying the cello at the age of five in the Suzuki Program at the Community School of the Arts at Wheaton College. She studied with Richard Hirschl before going to DePaul University where she received her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance under the tutelage of Steve Balderston. She received her Master of Music in Cello Performance at Northern Illinois University under the guidance of Cheng-Hou Lee.
Carolyn teaches traditional and Suzuki cello and is certified in the Suzuki Method. She continues to perform as a member of several local orchestras including the Fox Valley Philharmonic, Sinfonietta Bel Canto (Downers Grove), Elmhurst Symphony, Wheaton Symphony, Illinois Valley Symphony and Bensenville Chamber Orchestra.
