Tay Township Launches New Portal for Council and Committee Meeting Information and Documents
In April, Tay Township made the switch to a new user-friendly Portal for Council and Committee agendas, minutes, and other documents. Within the new Portal, residents can search through documents and subscribe to updates for meetings with just a few clicks.

The Portal allows residents to access documents without wait periods and can be downloaded for future review when offline. To access the Portal residents can continue to use the same webpage link as before at tay.ca/meetings.

Please note: Residents can still request reports, agendas, and minutes by contacting the Municipal Office by phone, email, and in person.
Cloudpermit now Available in Tay Township
Tay Township's Building Department officially launched its new e-permitting software Cloudpermit on August 15.

The Township has seen a large increase in the number of building permits submitted over the past two years. This new electronic process will be more accessible for the public, builders, and designers, and make obtaining a permit more efficient. Residents and businesses will be able to use the online software to submit applications, seek approvals, and submit questions from the comfort of their homes/offices.

To access Cloudpermit and for a helpful "how to submit a building permit application" video, please visit our website at www.tay.ca/building

2023 Staff Appreciation Event
On August 17th Tay Township Staff and Council gathered for the annual Staff Appreciation Event at the Tay Rink in Port McNicoll! Staff and Council enjoyed a delicious BBQ from the Victoria Harbour Lions Club, played lawn games, Zumba'd, and competed in mini-putt (course created by Deputy Mayor Norris - thank you!). Unfortunately, the baseball game got rained out, but it was a wonderful event nonetheless. Special thanks to the HR team for putting this afternoon together, it was a job well done!

Horticulture Committee Update
On August 10th the Horticulture Committee came together for some fun in the rain! Braving the weather, the committee completed two garden cleanups in Waubaushene. Together they removed 14 bags of overgrown flowers, bushes, and weeds, and began future garden planning. Although they were soaked, Committee Member Mary Warnock shared they were "happy with the results of working together" and that it was an "awesome team effort".
Heritage Committee Update
The Heritage Committee participated in the Tay Canada Day celebrations this summer while proudly presenting their new committee banner and a tremendous train display! Vice Chair John Todd shared "The centerpiece of our display was the 3D model of Hogg Bay Trestle and the 'Hole in the Wall' that had been made a number of years ago by Tay Township resident, the late Ken Wiggins. The loan of this display was courtesy of the Midland District Railroad Club Inc."
Beach Water Testing
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit
Did you know the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) tests the water quality at the following local beaches?

  • Albert Street Beach
  • Mackenzie Park Beach
  • Magnus Beach
  • Patterson Park Beach
  • Waubaushene Beach

Between June and September (Labour Day weekend) the SMDHU collects water samples from public beaches within Simcoe and Muskoka. They test the water samples for levels of E. coli bacteria. When elevated levels of E. coli are present in the water samples, the beach may be posted with an advisory warning indicating it is unsafe for swimming, or the beach may be closed. Bacteria levels can increase in recreational beach water due to heavy rainfall, cloudy water, a large number of swimmers, a large number of birds, shallow water, wet sand, wind and high waves.

Bookmark this page and make sure to check the water quality before you head out for a swim!
