Land Purchase To Help Improve Stormwater/Water Quality

The City has approved the purchase of two parcels of vacant land at the northeast corner of Meres and S. Safford Ave. The property is along the Pinellas Trail at the west end of the Meres extension with water on three sides. The land is proposed to be used for the public purpose of improving water quality within the adjacent Whitcomb Bayou watershed. The sale was finalized April 30.
Get Prepared for 2024 Hurricane Season, June 1-Nov. 30

The City is host to the 2024 Pinellas County Hurricane Preparedness Event on Saturday, June 1, from10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 444 Huey St. The event will be held both inside the building and outside along Huey St. Learn about sandbags and flood barriers, find your evacuation zone, receive free hurricane kits, register for special needs assistance, and explore the Touch-a-Truck area. Speakers include Denis Phillips of ABC Action News and Ross Giarratana with the National Weather Service.
Opportunity Zone Offers Incentives for Investors, Businesses
Opportunity Zones spur investment in housing, business and infrastructure within designated areas by allowing investors to defer taxes and reduce tax liability for making investments within the zone. Tarpon Springs has a 1,000-acre Opportunity Zone bordered by Klosterman, Alt. 19, Tarpon Ave. and US 19, where business and property owners can utilize the incentives provided through the government regulated program.
Welcome New Businesses: Hidden Anchor Tiki Bar and Pilot House Bar & Restaurant
Two new restaurant concepts are now open on N. Pinellas Ave. in buildings that have housed several eateries in the past few years. Hidden Anchor Tiki Bar & Grill has replaced Morgan Mae's at 606 N. Pinellas, and Pilot House Bar & Restaurant has taken over the former Shaka at 900 N. Pinellas Ave. Stop in and welcome the new owners, try the new menu offerings, and enjoy the ambiance at the new restaurants.
Now Open: DK's Sports Grill
DK's Sports Grill has opened at 734 S. Pinellas Ave. in the space formerly occupied by Chicago Smokehouse. The new restaurant is sports-themed, with dozens of TVs and menu items including "slamwiches," "buzzer beater tacos" and "Chick-eel O'Neal wings." They also have game nights, live music, and happy hour and daily specials.
