The Dos and Don'ts of Garage Sales

Spring and summer are peak garage sale seasons. Remember that all garage sales within the City of Cleburne's city limits require a permit, which can only be obtained through the Utility Billing Office.

Have You Been to the Rec Center Lately?

The Booker T. Washington Recreation Center has regular programming every week to keep you fit. Plus, you can take advantage of the fitness center, gym and computer lab whenever the facility is open. View programs and pricing here.


Remember: for the safety and security of patrons, anyone ages 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.

A Swim Time for Kids with Special Abilities


The Parks and Recreation Department is providing a swimming experience designed for children on the autism spectrum or who have other special abilities.


Adaptive Swim at Splash Station will be held on June 14, June 28, July 12 and July 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. During adaptive swim time, all loud features—including music and slides—will be turned off. Additional staff will be available on-site to assist in any way. The cost is $3 per person.

How About a Round of Golf, Ladies?

Entries are now being accepted for The City of Cleburne Ladies Golf Championship. The tournament dates are June 18 and 19. If you’re ready to tee off, the fee is $125 per player and includes golf for two days, a meal after the second round and prizes.


The deadline to register is Wednesday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Complete the entry form here and return it to the golf shop at Cleburne Golf Links, located at 2501 Country Club Road.

Sign Up for a Doggie Reading Session


Piper the Therapy Dog is visiting the Cleburne Public Library this Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. The pup usually comes on the third Saturday, but the schedule changed for June.


To make an appointment for your child to improve their literary skills by reading aloud to Piper for 15 minutes, call the library at 817-645-0934 or stop by the circulation desk to register in person. Check out the library’s summer calendar here.

Shelter Closed This Weekend


Cleburne Animal Shelter will be closed on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 so that staff can conduct a routine deep cleaning of the facility.


The shelter will resume normal hours on Tuesday, June 11. Thanks for your cooperation as we work to maintain a safe environment for our furry friends and their visitors.
