Library Receives Achievement of Excellence

The Cleburne Public Library is among the top 15% of public libraries in the state after earning the Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award. This is the third year in a row that the Cleburne Public Library has won the distinction.

The annual award is given by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA) to libraries that demonstrate consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to public library services within their communities. To receive the award, a library must exhibit excellence in 10 service areas, including services to underserved populations.

Sign Up for a Doggie Reading Session

Piper the Therapy Dog visits the Cleburne Public Library every third Saturday. The pup will be there on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. so that children can practice reading with a cute, non-judgmental listener.

To make an appointment for your child to read aloud to Piper for 15 minutes, call the library at 817-645-0934 or stop by the circulation desk to register in person.

Scheduled Outage: Please note that on Thursday, Feb. 29 starting at 5:30 p.m., the City’s internet and phone system will be down for maintenance. Emergency services will continue as normal. Other public facilities, like the library, will remain open through the outage. Although internet will not be available, library patrons are encouraged to explore the library’s physical offerings and check out or check in materials manually. Service is expected to be back to normal for March 1 business hours.

Don't Miss This Month's Story Train

Another Story Train is around the corner. The event occurs on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Cleburne Railroad Museum, so this month’s event will be on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m.

Story Train is a time for children to read a train-themed book with a corresponding activity afterward. It’s great for kids ages 1 through 6. Children and their guardian are encouraged to come on out.

PET OF THE WEEK

Tommy is a sweet 5-month-old kitten who loves attention. He’s great with people and doesn't mind being held or pet often. He’s also curious and loves to observe what’s going on in his surroundings.

This kitty can be independent at times and may need patience when introduced to other animals in the household, if any. If you’re ready to make Tommy yours, start the adoption process here.

Low-Cost Vaccinations

The Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) will offer low-cost vaccines, microchips, heartworm testing, flea/tick control and more this Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at Cleburne Animal Services on 2375 Service Dr.
