More Enhancements Coming to Cleburne Parks

Hulen Park now has more for visitors to enjoy. Thanks to a donation by the Cleburne Rotary Club, the park has a new gaga pit and game table!

There are major Cleburne park improvements to come as work begins for some of the projects in the Parks and Recreation’s 10-year Master Plan. In 2023, the main focuses will be renovations and upgrades at John P. Bradshaw Park and Westhill Park.

Also this year, design will begin for Kirtley Park to add amenities that will improve the outdoor experience at Lake Pat Cleburne. Upgrades to Hulen Park, which will include a skate park and other attractions, will be going into the design phase as well.

PRESERVING AND SHARING CLEBURNE HISTORY

After a closure on Wednesday, Feb. 15 so that crews can clean the historic brick and repoint the mortar, the Layland Museum of History is refreshed and reopen.

Preserving the 1905 brick is important, and we thank the public for the patience and understanding shown as this work was being completed.

Here’s a lovely little history fact. Have you ever noticed this heart at Hulen Park?

When the stone and concrete bleachers were built at Hulen Park in 1938, workers added a small personal touch in the shape of a heart. Inside the heart is etched "6M 6D RCH 1938." It represents the sixth month and sixth day of 1938 with the initials of Roger Cumills Heald, one of the workers on this project.
