TxDOT Construction on FM 917 Begins

Work begins this week on a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project to widen the travel lanes and add a continuous turn lane on FM 917, from Egan to I-35W.

During the first phase of construction (scheduled for July 14 through Aug. 25), FM 917 will be reduced to one lane as needed for culvert reconstruction. Temporary traffic signals will direct traffic through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays and take alternate routes if possible.

OUTDOOR BURN BAN IN EFFECT: Johnson County has issued an outdoor burning ban, effective until Oct. 8. That means outdoor burning is prohibited. The ban was put into place due to the increasing fire danger. Read the full order here.

Introducing a New "Museum of Memory" Event

You can get up close and personal with a part of Cleburne’s history on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. The Cleburne Railroad Museum will host its first ever “Museum of Memory” panel, featuring speakers discussing their experience in the Cleburne Santa Fe Shops apprentice program.

The Shops was where crews repaired and manufactured locomotives and other rail cars before it closed in 1989. After the panelists speak, anyone who attends is welcome to come up and share their own story about the Santa Fe apprentice program. Attendance is free, and refreshments are included.

Do You Want to Build a Lego City?

If Legos are more your speed, the Railroad Museum has that too! The free annual LegoMotion event will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It’s basically a huge Lego-building party. People of all ages can come and help build Cleburne’s own Lego city. There will be plenty of toy trains to play with as well.

Enjoy Some Summer Fun at the Library
