Confidential Assistance for You and Your Family Members

The holidays are filled with cheer, but they can also come with a lot of added stress. Your Bar Association is here to help you cope with the added stress that the holidays often bring.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and in need of assistance, please consider contacting a member of our Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee (LHL) or the professionals at CorpCare to receive free and confidential help, information, assessment and referral for personal concerns. CorpCare is a lawyer assistance consulting service contracted by the Association to assist you at no charge. They provide health counselors to work with you to address your concerns.

CorpCare has recently expanded their provider network to include the BetterHelp platform. RIBA members still have the option to have in-person local counseling, or telehealth counseling with a local provider through the CorpCare network, but now, you also have the option of BetterHelp if you are interested in a digital platform. Members can access the BetterHelp platform by scanning the QR code below. When you arrive at the site, enter your information and search for Rhode Island Bar Association in the “Employer Name/Access Code” field. Once the correct place is selected, follow the prompts to get started. Members get access to video, phone, or chat messaging. Remember, while there is no shame in seeking help, the service is always completely confidential.

The Rhode Island Bar Association’s Government Lawyers Committee is sponsoring a free-to-Bar-members, one-credit, hybrid Committee CLE seminar on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. The program will provide an overview of Model Rule 8.4(g) of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the American Bar Association’s Rule addressing bias, discrimination, and harassment in the practice of law. More broadly, presenters will teach Rhode Island attorneys about local initiatives in the area of DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) in the practice of law, recent changes to legal education standards, and the potential impacts these changes might have on practicing law in Rhode Island.
