Change in a Stitch

We are now in the midst of the third offering of our Sewing Legacy program which instills women with the confidence and skills they need to take care of their families by providing them with both an avenue for income as well the ability to clothe themselves and those they love. After our first two classes were excellent successes, this iteration of our course has brought another motivated group of women ready to train for this exciting new season of their lives.

Muonautani Lonjezo is one of our new students; she is 41, a wife, and mother to six children. After 4 of her children were unable to finish their secondary education due to an inability to pay school fees, Muonautani knew she wanted to better her life and financial situation. “I thank God and Child Legacy for giving me this opportunity to do tailoring–I know it is by God’s grace for my name to be among the chosen ones because there are many people in Malawi who would love to get this chance." Her outlook on life is being transformed through this program and she continues sharing about her experience in expressing her joy about now being able to have a stable way to support her family and elderly mother. She plans to put her two youngest children through their schooling upon completion of the program.

Hope Delivered!

One of the most meaningful roles we are blessed to fill at Child Legacy is caring for and empowering women. Quality healthcare, especially related to women’s health, is virtually nonexistent in Malawi. 20 year old Eneless Zindikirani was referred to our hospital for delivery after she lost her first baby in the month she was due. Married now for a year, she came to our CLI hospital after receiving limited prenatal care at a different health center during her second pregnancy.

“I came to the CLI Hospital and stayed at the mother’s shelter for 6 days before delivering my baby boy. When I arrived, I was welcomed by both doctors and nurses. After receiving an ultrasound, I was assured of my baby’s well being,” Eneless shares. After losing her first baby because of the lack of necessary hospital equipment in the rural area where she lives, she made the trek to us and continued by saying, “Had it not been for the CLI Hospital, surely I could have lost this precious baby as well.” Eneless is one of many that goes home with a full heart and a healthy baby due to your continued support of our work, and for that, we are deeply honored.
