Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers ARE Saving Lives
A new report published by the Charlotte Lozier Institute is shining the spotlight on the good works being carried out by the more than 2700 pro-life pregnancy resource centers in America: in 2022, these help centers assisted just under one million new clients and provided nearly 176 million dollars in free medical services including ultrasounds, pregnancy tests and STI testing.
Additionally, the centers provided more than 113 million dollars in free education and support services and nearly 79 million dollars in material resources such as diapers and baby formula. More than 97.4% of clients reported having a positive experience at these centers.
Since the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago, there has been a greater demand for these life-affirming services. Thankfully, generous donors have been digging deep to provide financial assistance where it is most needed. Some state governments, including right here in Ohio and also Florida, have increased their funding to support these centers.
Another area showing increase was the use of the abortion pill reversal regimen, or APR: 27% of pregnancy centers now aid women who have taken the first chemical abortion pill mifepristone and want to reverse it.
Sadly, these centers have become targets of pro-abortion Democrat politicians. The most recent example is New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is suing several pregnancy resource centers. She has charged them with making false and misleading claims about the APR regimen. Ms. James is apparently so blinded by her political ideology that she ignores the true accounts of how APR has saved babies from certain death.
Critics malign pro-life pregnancy centers, claiming they deny women “real care," but the facts say otherwise. A separate study by the Lozier Institute concluded that pregnancy help centers saved more than 800,000 lives between 2016 and 2020.
