THE POWER FROM FASTING AND PRAYER
PART 9
THE BENEFITS – LESSON 7
When it comes to casting out demonic spirits from a person, every Spirit-filled believer has this authority given to them by Jesus and through his name.
However, most believers do not have a sufficiently established or perfected faith to do this. Such a person should not attempt it because the demon can turn on them and attack them.
Consider the seven sons of Sceva mentioned in Acts 19:13-17. They saw what the apostle Paul had done and considered themselves able to do exorcism (cast out demons) using the name of Jesus. The demon leaped upon them and overpowered them, saying, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” This indicated that they were either not saved, or they did not know their authority through the name of Jesus as Paul did.
If you are not specifically led by the Holy Spirit to cast out a demon, then do not try to do it. However, if your faith is strong, then the Holy Spirit may use you in this.
Lester Sumrall experienced this kind of attack from demons. He was ministering to a demon-possessed man in a Philippine prison. Two demons presented themselves in a physical form and proceeded to physically beat him up. Reverand Sumrall managed to overcome them and brought deliverance to the man. He became an expert teacher on deliverance and authored numerous books on the topic.
There are many strong demons, and they are very powerful, so do not take this lightly. If, and only if, your faith is perfected and powerful enough is when the Holy Spirit can use you in a deliverance of demon entities.
Seek the Lord diligently about this. Fast and pray. Invoke Jesus’ name even in your daily prayers. The power and anointing come from Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Even if you never deal with a demon, you will need to continuously perfect your faith daily through prayer and study of the written word of God. Be careful not to slack off on doing this.
The prayer of faith overcomes every plan of the enemy.
