YOUR BODY – GOD’S TEMPLE

When Adam’s body was formed in creation, it was lifeless until God breathed the spirit into him. God’s life was placed into Adam, and Adam became a living soul as a temple for God’s life to live in.
As new covenant believers, we are told in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, (NKJV) “Do you not know that you are the temple of God (the Father) and that the (Holy) Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For (because) the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
This point is so important that it is re-emphasized in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “…do you not know [or understand] that your body [physical body] is the temple of the Holy Spirit [sent from the Father] who is in you; whom you have from God, and you are not your own. For you were bought at a price [the blood of Jesus], therefore glorify God in your body and [as well as] in your [own human] spirit, which are God’s.” God owns us.
Let us look at 1 Corinthians 3:17 again. It says that if we defile His temple, our body, God will allow our body to be destroyed. One way in which we defile our body is making our physical temple of God unclean. This may come through the use of tobacco, alcohol, and gluttony, all of which are harmful to our physical temples. The medical profession has spoken of many diseases brought on by the tobacco usage, yet some ignore these warnings, even Christians, and continue to use them. Alcohol can also harm the body, specifically the liver, and cause mood changes. It can destroy families and kill innocent people. Yet, many professing Christians continue to consume it. Gluttony is a subject that most avoid, but our temples are often destroyed by a lifestyle of wrong eating. Scripture tells us to not defile our bodies in such a manner.
There are many other ways in which one can defile their physical bodies, God’s holy temple. We must examine ourselves to see how any defilement applies to us individually. Then, we must repent, clean up ourselves, and live holy.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything that needs to change in your lifestyle. Be honest with Him, and he will help you to overcome these things.

WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

Does Satan ever whisper in your ear that you are a failure? Does he remind you of all the mistakes you have made in your life? Does he say you aren’t any kind of Christian because of your past sins? Ah, yes, he does that. He is the great accuser of the brethren. He is the destroyer of faith, and robs us of our peace, health, and finances.
There is no one that has not failed in this life my friends, because we all are born with a sinful nature. Even after receiving salvation through Jesus Christ, we still fail. Satan will lie and tell us that God does not love us anymore. This is an absolute lie. God hates sin, but he loves the sinner. If this is not true, then Jesus did not die for you or me.
Yes, my friend, while we were sinners Christ died for us!
Now, we have a choice. We can accept God’s free gift of salvation and make the decision to be led by the Spirit of God, or we deny his gift, and live a continuous sinful defeated life led by our own sin sick nature.
John 14:26 tells us we have an advocate, a comforter. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, which really means own up to them, and admit them to God, and ask for forgiveness, He immediately cleanses us of our sin.
He does not ask for penance, or payment for the sin, because Jesus already paid for all sin. He calls us to repentance.
Sure, it hurts God when we fail, but like any “loving” Father, he is there to restore us, not destroy us. Do not believe Satan’s lies my friends. He is a deceiver. God wants us to receive forgiveness just as badly as you need to ask for it.
Do not let a day go by without the cleansing of your sin. Let God wash it away and begin anew. Yes, we were “failures,” but God makes us more than conquerors. Walk in his love and forgiveness. There is no better way to enjoy life!

We often need a reminder that it is okay to be who God made us to be. If God made you a female, rejoice! You are exactly who you are supposed to be. If God made you a male then rejoice! You are exactly who you are supposed to be. Furthermore, you were made in the image of God, so how much better can it get than that? God does not make mistakes my friend. He knows every hair on your hair, and treasures you more than you can imagine. If he had a refrigerator your picture would be on it. Better than that, your name is engraved in the palms of Jesus' hands. Now, that is love. Rejoice! God loves you!

I’m sure there are times when it seems as if your miracle has passed you by. Well, we know Lazarus' sisters must’ve felt that way too; Because after calling for Jesus to come to their aid…They ended up burying their dear brother Lazarus. Yes, to them it appeared they had missed their window of opportunity for a miracle…By only minutes. In fact, their conversation was a big list of their “what if and if only” thoughts such as…What if they had sent word to Jesus sooner? If only Lazarus had held on for a few more minutes and…What if Jesus had come a few days earlier? We know from reading the Biblical account in John 11 all the many questions they had. Yes, they questioned things like what could have happened or what should have been done; But we know by the authority of God’s Word that everything happened just as it was meant to happen. No, the miracle did not take place when they thought it would or even the way they imagined that it would; And that was a good thing. No doubt you’re asking WHY and HOW was it a good thing?? Well it was NOT just a good thing; But it WAS actually a GOD THING. You see God had already scheduled something far greater than they could have imagined and that was…Not just a healing but a divine revelation and resurrection. We all need to remember that Lazarus’s name went down in history; And not just because a prayer was answered…But because a prayer was delayed. I’m sure some of you have experienced what appeared to be narrow escapes in your personal journey of faith as well. So today take the time to reflect on those events; While believing in your heart that God knows best…For He is an on time, every time God. Yes,sometimes, the best and the most needed miracles…Are those that you and I think just won’t happen for us…BUT GOD!
