TTC Continues Transition to Zero Emissions Before 2040

On Earth Day and every day, the TTC is committed to a greener city. We are on our way to electrifying 100 percent of our fleet before 2040, with support from government partners and customers.

Subways and streetcars already have zero emissions. More electric vehicles are on the way:

  • By the end of 2025, we’ll have 60 more streetcars, bringing the streetcar fleet to a total of 264 vehicles. These can carry the equivalent of nearly 700 buses!
  • The TTC is set to welcome 340 more battery-electric buses by the end of 2025. This brings our total eBus fleet to 400, by far the largest in North America.
  • Hybrid buses will make up 40 percent of the entire bus fleet by the end of this year.
