Letter from the Executive Director:

The 2023-2024 school year is off to a great start! Students, teachers, and administrators have been busy learning and growing in their education. The Schools Foundation is here to support our schools in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County. I hope you will help us in our efforts to support education in our community.

As a recently retired principal, I am excited to join The Schools Foundation and continue the mission of supporting education in our community. The Schools Foundation has assisted me in my role as a school administrator for more than 20 years. It is an honor for me to return the support for our educators in my new role as Executive Director of The Schools Foundation.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Baird Greer

Principally Speaking Network

Principals across North Alabama have participated in Principally Speaking Network since 2012. Our first PSN for this school year took place in September. We enjoyed hearing from Dr. Karen Anderson – Director of the Office of Mathematics Improvement for the State of Alabama and Principal Baruti Kafele, a highly regarded educator and transformational leader.

On November 9, 2023, PSN will welcome Dr. Kevin Elko, Ph.D., a nationally known sports psychologist, performance and career-enhancement consultant, author, and motivational speaker. We will also welcome Tom Fandre of Club Mindful Huntsville. Mr. Fandre specializes in scientifically proven practices to reduce stress in the ups and downs of life.

October Is National Principals Month

Thank you, Principals, every month of the year!

Our deepest gratitude is extended to the dedicated people who make it possible for our students to experience a wonderful learning environment each day. Here are some ways you can show your principal how much they are valued.

·        Give a “shout out” on social media

·        Send a note or email.

·        Video a recording acknowledging them of their value

·        A small token of appreciation

Express your appreciation and let your principal know just how much their dedication and commitment to our schools means to our students and community!

This year, The Schools Foundation is participating in the Combined Federal Campaign, the official workplace giving campaign for Federal employees and retirees. Every year, federal employees come together to raise money and volunteer for their favorite charities. Since its inception, this federal tradition has raised nearly $8.7 billion for charities and people in need.

If you are a federal employee, please consider supporting our efforts and donate! Let's create a legacy in our schools and for our future.

Huntsville City Schools

Huntsville City Schools has implemented a new and innovative way for students to learn math and science. The district is among the first school systems across the country to roll out Prisms VR technology.

The virtual reality (VR) headsets empower students to engage in immersive learning and real-world experiences. Students can explore the inner-workings of cells, visit new cities, and understand the “why” behind math and science concepts.

Dedication ceremony held for the James Clemens Jet

The Madison City Board of Education led a dedication ceremony for dignitaries, students and the Madison community at James Clemens High School. The event provided a spectacular ending to JC's 2023 homecoming parade, which ended at the school.

"The entire community - students, parents, faculty, boosters - is excited to see this project become a reality," said Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols. "Having a fighter jet displayed as the centerpiece of campus not only speaks to the spirit of the James Clemens Jets but to the rich military and defense history that so permeates this area."
