Message from TSF

November is a time when we reflect on our blessings during the past year. We are so thankful for the wonderful educators, students, and parents that we have been blessed with in our community. Our wonderful community is what sets us apart from every other place.

Giving Tuesday is coming up on November 28th. If you would like to give to The Schools Foundation this year, our students and educators would greatly appreciate it. Our donation QR code is at the bottom of our newsletter, or you can visit our website www.theschoolsfoundation.org.

We would like to personally thank all of you for the support you have given to our students and educators this past year.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. May the joy of the holidays extend to you and your family throughout the coming year.

Principally Speaking Network

Principals across North Alabama have participated in Principally Speaking Network since 2012. Our second PSN for this school year took place on November 9th. We enjoyed hearing from Mr. Tom Fandre of Club Mindful Huntsville. Mr. Fandre specializes in scientifically proven practices to reduce stress in the ups and downs of life. We also heard from Dr. Kevin Elko, Ph.D., a nationally known sports psychologist, performance and career-enhancement consultant, author, and motivational speaker. Dr. Elko Spoke on the BOLD GOLD standard of leading. Our principals also enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by TSF through Bubba’s catering. It is always helpful to meet school leaders from across North Alabama as we learn from each other in our profession.

The Schools Foundation recently implemented the program ReCharge Our Teachers! ReCharge Our Teachers is a TSF program which includes high quality teacher training for new teachers as well as online RECHARGE resources for all teachers. ReCharge provides hands-on content for teachers and staff that focuses on mental health and overall wellness. The in-person training and the RECHARGE resources are tailored to the needs of today's educators, providing engaging training on educational topics such as: parent communication, classroom management, effective lesson planning, student engagement and mental health strategies that will help educators navigate life’s challenges.

Throughout the year, RECHARGE will have different programs and events which will engage teachers beyond the classroom.

Raise Your Hand supports growing the number of National Board Certified Teachers in our area. A National Board Certified Teacher is the greatest gift we can give to a student, to a classroom, and to our community. Raise Your Hand is a bold initiative to add 500 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) to Huntsville City, Madison City and Madison County school systems. National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.

New Partnership with The Boys and Girls Club

The Huntsville City Board of Education approved a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama to operate a free after-school pilot program for select schools. As part of the memorandum of agreement (MOA), the after-school program will offer a strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while also offering support in math and reading.

The Boys and Girls Club will use their proven model, currently located at Williams Elementary, to provide this impactful opportunity. The STEM Enrichment Program will operate four days a week until 5:30 p.m.

New Pre-K Facility in Madison City!

The $7.3 million makeover included new floors, furnishings, ceilings, safety and technology enhancements, bathroom fixtures, and outdoor improvements that will include new playground equipment and signage. The larger facility should help ease waiting lists to get into MCS PreK program as new classrooms are authorized by the state. A ribbon cutting and public open house will be scheduled soon at the new PreK campus for Madison City Schools.

Madison County Honors
