Letter from the Executive Director

The Schools Foundation has been very busy during the past few weeks! We completed our final sessions for Principally Speaking Network and ReCharge Our Teachers

Our Principally Speaking Network participants enjoyed hearing from Dr. Vic Wilson, Executive Director of CLAS (Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools), and Jesse Leon, public speaker and author of I’m Not Broken. Over ninety leaders from across North Alabama came together to network and hear from our guest speakers during our final session for the 23-24 school year.

The Schools Foundation sponsored two final training sessions for ReCharge Our Teachers this past week. Teachers who are new to the profession enjoyed hearing from experts in the areas of special education, parent communication, student assessment, mental health wellness, and instruction of English Language Learners.

I would like to thank our donors for making these programs possible! I am looking forward to extending our programs in the upcoming school year.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Baird Greer

TOYOTA ALABAMA Donates Book Vending Machine to Lakewood Elementary

Toyota Alabama unveiled a book vending machine at Lakewood Elementary as part of Read Across America Week.

The students at Lakewood Elementary were very excited to learn about this unique way to access books! Students can receive book tokens when they display positive behavior during the school day. These tokens will be used at the vending machine to get new books.

Beth Zinn, Program Manager for Toyota's Driving Possibilities, stated, "The Chamber Foundation is honored to serve as the coordinating partner for Toyota's Driving Possibilities initiative in our community. As part of the initiative, the Foundation was excited to surprise the students, faculty, and staff of Lakewood Elementary School with a book vending machine stocked with almost 200 books during Read Across America week. The machine will encourage students to read, will help them build their home libraries, and will serve as a reward to reinforce positive behavior in school. This gift was made possible by funding from and in partnership with the Toyota Foundation and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama."

This is a very innovative way to get young students excited about reading and learning. Thank you, Toyota Alabama!

Madison City High Schools visit Amazon!

High school students from James Clemens and Bob Jones high schools recently toured the HSV1 Amazon facility. Students learned about e-commerce/shipping operations with Amazon. A tour of the facility and a panel discussion facilitated conversations regarding this as a career choice.

Thank you, Amazon, for staying involved with our community and reaching out to our future leaders.

Madison County Elementary Schools receive Learning Stations!

The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Madison County Commission presented Ag Learning Stations to all MCSS elementary schools. The learning stations are filled with entertaining books with an agricultural tone for our students. Students at Monrovia Elementary enjoyed listening to books read by Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon and MCSS Chief of Staff, Daniel Evans, Jr.
