Letter from the Executive Director

Happy New Year! I hope you and your loved ones are having a great start to 2024. Our students came back to school during the first week of January and are ringing in the new year with wonderful learning experiences.

January is School Board Member Recognition Month! Please reach out to your school board members to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our schools. They make it possible for our students to experience a wonderful learning environment each day. Here are some ways you can show your school board members how much they are valued.

·       Give a “shout out” on social media

·       Send a note or email.

·       A small token of appreciation

·       Ask your board member how you can help in your district

Express your appreciation and let your school board members know just how much their dedication and commitment to our schools mean to our students and community!

Sincerely,

Jeanne Baird Greer

Huntsville High School Band rang in the new year in London, England! The Huntsville High School Band performed in the London New Year's Day Parade on Jan. 1, 2024.

More than 200 band members, families, and staff traveled to London on Dec. 27, 2023. Around 650,000 spectators lined the streets of London to watch more than 10,000 performers from 28 countries around the world.

"The Huntsville High School Marching Band was incredibly honored to represent our Huntsville community in London,” HHS Band Stuart Tankersley says. “Performing for millions in the parade and visiting London was the thrill of a lifetime for our students.  We are so proud of the dedication, respect, kindness, and musicianship that our students showed on this trip."

In addition to the London New Year’s Parade, the HHS band took a historical tour of the city to see the Tower of London, Windsor Castle, and Hampton Court Palace. Students were able to see West End shows and other London sites.
