CHECKING IN ON A FEW OF THE TSF COLLEGE ATHLETES

BLOSSOMGAME MAKES WOODEN WATCH LIST

While DeShaun Watson and the Clemson football team soaked up the national spotlight last week, Jaron Blossomgame was putting up some numbers of his own against ranked opponents: 24 points and 7 rebounds vs. #14 North Carolina in an OT loss; followed by 22 and 8 vs. #23 Notre Dame. The folks who hand out the John R. Wooden Award were watching , as they named Jaron to their midseason Top 25 this week. The athletic combo forward is averaging 18.2 points, 6 rebounds , 1.2 blocks and 1 steal in his senior season.

Next Game: Thursday, January 19 vs. Louisville (9PM on ESPN)

JOSH OKOGIE, GEORGIA TECH
ACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK...AGAIN

Stephon Marbury. Dennis Scott. Mark Price. Kenny Anderson. Chris Bosh. Derrick Favors.

All of these former Yellow Jackets won ACC Rookie of the Year. But none of these stars hold Georgia Tech's freshman scoring record. That belongs to Josh Okogie, who dropped 38 points vs. Tulane back in November to vault to the top of that list, emphatically announcing his arrival on the ACC scene while doing so. He's shown no signs of slowing down in conference play either, posting 26 in an upset over #9 North Carolina on New Year's Eve, and double figures vs. Duke and Louisville, also ranked in the top ten. In a conference stuffed with one-and-done lottery picks, Okogie has already scooped up two ACC Rookie of the week awards.

Next Game: Wednesday, January 18 at Virginia Tech (9PM EST on ESPNU)

NOAH DICKERSON, WASHINGTON
NOAH'S ARC

Last year scouts flocked to Washington to evaluate first round talents Marquese Chriss and Dejounte Murray. This year, those same scouts will clamor to get their eyes on Markelle Fultz. But what they will undoubtedly notice on their trip is the leap that Noah Dickerson has taken in his sophomore year. After reinventing his body in Atlanta over the summer, Noah has boosted his averages from 7.5 points and 5.2 boards, to 11.7 points and a team-best 8.4 rebounds, respectively. With Chriss playing for the Suns, the Huskies have leaned heavily on the 6-8 Dickerson inside, and he has responded with five double-doubles and an energy around the rim that the 8-8 Huskies sorely need as PAC-12 play gets underway.

Next Game: Wednesday, January 18 vs. Colorado Buffaloes (11PM EST on ESPNU)

JOHN EGBUNU, FLORIDA
BIG JOHN AND THE EASTSIDE BOYZ

The junior continues to develop into one of the SEC's fiercest interior defenders , leading #21 Florida in rebounding (6.8) and blocked shots (1.8). Off to a 5-0 start in conference play, Florida is tied with Kentucky atop the SEC standings. It appears that the Florida Gators, much like the 6-11, 255-pound Egbunu, will be hard to shove off the block this year.

Next Game: Wednesday, January 18 @ South Carolina (6:30PM EST on SEC Network)

DUBY OKEKE, WINTHROP
DUBY...OR NOT DUBY?

Duby keeps doing what Duby does: rebounding and protecting the rim for Winthrop, who currently sit atop the Big South with a 13-4 record. Duby is second in the conference in blocks (1.9) despite playing just 15 minutes per game. Offensively, Duby understands and excels in his role, mixing crushing screens with timely rolls to produce powerful finishes like this one.

Next Game: Thursday, January 19 vs. UNC-Asheville (9pm EST on ESPNU)
