On April 11th, the Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association (TRMA) held its Annual Awards Dinner, with TRMA Chair Ted Raymond of Aux Sable Liquid Products and Jim Cristman of Citgo Petroleum Lemont Refinery leading the festivities.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of safety achievements. Contractor companies, entrusted with operations within TRMA manufacturing plants, were commended for their outstanding safety practices. Despite the challenges encountered, 40 contractor firms received honors for their exemplary safety performance throughout 2023.

2024 Dinner Recap

The US Army Corp of Engineers has scheduled a full closure of the Lockport Lock for January 14 through March 11, of 2025 for imminent repairs. This will be a full closure preventing barge traffic from moving either north or south of the Lockport Lock.

In partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Joliet Junior College (JJC), the Three Rivers Manufacturers' Association recently hosted a solemn and meaningful Worker Memorial Day service. This gathering served as a poignant tribute to the workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job, and a reminder of the imperative to prioritize workplace safety.

Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
