President's Message
Greetings from TRASA!
This weekend I attended an honest-to-goodness outdoor, live, rock concert. It was Guns N’ Roses. Being there among the cheering masses made me feel a bit nostalgic for a time long ago. You may remember it as fondly as I do if you can reach back into your memory all the way back…to 2019. Rolling Stone referred to this performance as the band’s “First Covid-Era Show.” So I was thinking today that it’s hard to believe we are in the second half of the year already, and about the fact that we are all planning our “Covid-era firsts” as well.
I still have a very positive outlook for the rest of 2021. At the beginning of the year I talked about how TRASA CARES, and our commitment to creating opportunities for our members, providing tools and education to better prepare for the spring and summer selling seasons. As our industry continues to change and adapt, TRASA continues that commitment of support. While I’m sure we will still get together virtually, I am excited to share that we are moving forward with our new Erie Show as well as our fall shows.
TRASA is getting back on track with our original plan (now our Covid-era plan, I suppose) of reaching out to different parts of western PA to better serve all members. We still stress the importance of working with one another as we continue to move forward together. Sure, this era is not without its challenges: inventory, production times, global shipping, and others, but the goals are still the same. Our commitment to helping our member partners is as strong as ever.
So, I hope everyone is looking forward to their Covid-era firsts, be they overdue family reunions, trips to other parts of the world, or live performances of bands that peaked in the nineties. And I encourage you to support our supplier members when you can as they commit to support you too. Lastly, let us all know what we can do to help you create more success in this era!

Seeking Volunteers!
Would you be interested in serving on a show committee for one of the fall shows in October? What's involved? Attend 5 or 6 weekly zoom meetings (up to 30 minutes each) to help plan the show and also assist at the show as needed.
Would you be interested in serving on the TRASA Board beginning January 1, 2022 for a three year term? What's involved? Attend monthly board meetings via zoom. The meetings are 60 minutes in length. The TRASA board is comprised of 9 volunteer board members and an executive director who create the plan for the year ahead including shows, professional development, social events, etc. Call for nominations to serve on the board will be sent out the beginning of September. New board members will be invited to attend the annual board retreat in November.

PCNA Adds Three New Drinkware Brands. PCNA has added three new brands to its drinkware category with products from HidrateSpark, Stojo and BottleKeeper. “Each one of these new brands brings something new to our drinkware product category,” says Liz Haesler, PCNA’s chief merchandising officer. “Our team has been closely monitoring trends in drinkware and these newest brand launches are the result of months’ long research to ensure we’re offering the best selection of in-demand styles to our customers.” The products include HidrateSpark, a smart water bottle that uses a smartphone app to set and track ideal daily water consumption; Stojo, an earth-conscious collapsible drinkware product and BottleKeeper, a stainless-steel bottle lined with neoprene that holds a beer bottle, keeps it cold, protects it from dropping and reseals it with a top that also functions as a bottle opener.
