Dear Patriotic friend,

In a letter to his wife Abigail, John Adams wrote these sobering words: "...Liberty once lost, is lost forever."

Patrick Henry ended his historic speech at St. John's church with these immortal words: "...as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"

Unfortunately, our liberty is under attack like never before, and the solemn warnings of our Founding Fathers are as relevant as they were on the day they uttered them. One of the most recent attacks on Liberty occurred in Indiana when pro-same-sex 'marriage' hoards demanded that the Indiana Legislature strip business owners and others of their First Amendment rights to freedom of conscience and expression. They would force Christians to support or participate in same-sex ceremonies as a requirement of being allowed to do business. This is creeping totalitarianism, under the guise of tolerance and fairness. It is as monstrous as the dictatorial regimes which force their citizens to bow or suffer.  

We keep hearing that most of the American people now support same-sex 'marriage.' That's like saying all of the people in Cuba vote for Castro as President. No one dare do anything else. When the homosexual radicals label you a bigot and hater for your Christian principles, there are many who choose to express the opinion that is safe. When government and businesses become a mob labeling a fairly mild law a symbol of hatred and discrimination, the message is clear that opponents better keep their mouths shut or lose their jobs and livelihood. This intimidation must stop, but sincere believers must not be moved.

It is a lie that opposition to same-sex 'marriage' is the same as Jim Crow segregation and bans on interracial marriage. The truth is that racial ideology was created to justify slavery and the continued subjugation of people based on skin color. On the other hand, Christians have believed in marriage as a sacred union between one man and one woman for 2000 years. We did not create this narrow definition in response to anything, not even the anti-Christian gay rights movement. There is no comparison between homosexuality and race. One is behavior with profound moral implications and the other is a neutral physiological characteristic.

Many of those who attended the Summit and have answered the call are black ministers who are disgusted with the anti-Christian climate being fostered by the federal government, the media and the self-appointed intellectual elite.    

 

We are bringing Pastors and Christian leaders of all races together again on May 20 to continue growing the movement. After the Summit, we will join with the Family Research Council Watchmen on The Wall pastors' conference.

On Tuesday April 28, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in four consolidated cases challenging same-sex 'marriage' bans in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan have both officiated in same-sex ceremonies. We have demanded that they recuse themselves from deliberating and ruling on this case.

 

Title 28 U.S.C. Part I, Chapter 21, Section 455(a) requires a judge recuse him or herself whenever the judge's "impartiality might be reasonably questioned." This statute prohibits the mere appearance of impartiality, regardless of the judge's subjective state of mind. In addition, Section 455(b) requires a judge to recuse him or herself when there is personal bias toward a party.

 

Ginsburg and Kagan are refusing to do the honorable thing. If they sit on this case and rule in favor of same-sex 'marriage,' the decision will be illegitimate as a matter of law. Same-sex 'marriage' will always be morally illegitimate by the laws of nature and nature's God. No ruling supporting such a thing can stand because it will be a lie.

 

The mob mentality on this issue has even swept up some of America's largest corporations. We are undertaking an initiative to make sure that the 379 corporations supporting same-sex 'marriage' also recognize the First Amendment rights of Christians to refuse involvement in these activities. If they do not, we will demonstrate the economic strength of the Christian community.

"One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all." Those are the words in our Pledge of Allegiance. They represent a vision which every true American holds dear. They represent the cause for which many have shed their blood and sacrificed their lives.

 

I believe those words originated in the heart of God, but they resonate in the heart of every citizen who understands the privilege and the responsibility of being an American. We are more than a country or a continent. We are one of the greatest ideas the world has ever known - America! That idea is under attack, and we must not let it die.
