The Pittsburgh Parking Authority is moving ahead with plans to demolish and replace an old 586-space garage at Ninth Street and Penn Avenue, Downtown — even as it still holds out hope for a much broader development at the site.

Construction is under way at the old Oakmont Truck Rental site along Hulton Road for a new commercial development.

The property in Oakmont was purchased by 231 Hulton Road Partners LLC for $700,000 on May 18, according to the Allegheny County real estate website.

The Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure is pushing forward with a redesign of a focal five-block stretch of Smallman Street from 16th Street to 21st Street, replacing what is now a wide open street with an approach to split traffic and create a mix of parking and pedestrian space in the middle.

Last week, Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning announced a $25,000 redesign of Tustin Park in Uptown. In addition to new playground facilities for children to enjoy, the park will also include a series of Wi-Fi hotspots and solar-powered charging stations.

The ambitious new design was chosen from dozens of proposals submitted this past February to the City Planning Committee and a group of Uptown stakeholders. A Houston-based company is buying Blush Gentlemen’s Club & Sports Bar for $15 million in a deal expected to be completed by Oct. 31.

A subsidiary of RCI Hospitality Holdings Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Blush including related real estate, RCI (Nasdaq:RICK) said in a release.

Under terms of the agreement, the RCI subsidiary will pay $10 million for the club, consisting of a $2.5 million cash payment and $7.5 million in seller-financing, and $5 million in cash for the real estate.
