May, 2014
Greetings!

Hello! We hope you are doing well! This week is the last week of  classes and our Spring recital this Saturday will wrap up the school year! It has been a wonderful year full of fun, creativity, and positive changes. This summer promises to also be an exciting time, so please join us! A lot can be lost in the summer from things learned earlier in the year, and it can be a great time to learn something new!

Sincerely,

Dear Students and Parents,

Our spring recital is fast approaching! We are incredibly excited and anticipating a wonderful show!

To help things go smoothly for all involved, please take the time to thoroughly read the following information. Hopefully this will answer any questions you may have, but feel free to let us know if you need any further clarification!

RECITAL and ART RECEPTION
Time: Saturday, May 17th. 4 pm. All performers must arrive no later than 3 pm.
Place: Ozark Actors Theatre, 701 N Cedar Street

Dress Rehearsal. (Mandatory). Friday, May 16th.
* Time: 5:30 pm. (This means we BEGIN at 5:30 pm. It is recommended you arrive at least 30 minutes early to check the theatre out and find your way around. Parents and students please be in the chairs in front of the stage ready to receive further instructions at 5:30 pm SHARP!)
* Place: Ozark Actors Theatre, 701 N Cedar Street
* THIS IS A FULL DRESS REHEARSAL. Full hair, makeup and costumes are required.
* We will rehearse the show in order. Once you have rehearsed all of your pieces, you are free to go, but please ask first to make sure we don't still need you.
* You are required to leave all costumes/shoes/accessories at the theatre after the rehearsal. If you are missing an item, you or a parent WILL BE REQUIRED to go home and get it THAT NIGHT before the rehearsal is over. This ensures no one will be missing any essential items the day of the performance.

Art Reception Set-up
* The art display will be in the lobby of the theatre. As people are being seated and during intermission, art students may stand next to their work and talk about and answer any questions people may have. **Art students, please invite your friends and family to come view your work, and all artists will be presented with an award of recognition.
* If you would like to volunteer to be a helper for set-up, please speak with Miss Haydee

DRESS REHEARSAL GUIDELINES
1. The order of the show(s) will be posted throughout the theatre. Performers may watch during rehearsal, but MUST be fully ready for their next piece and waiting backstage to go onstage one full song/piece beforehand.
2. Dancers, please leave all personal belongings and costumes, etc. in your dressing room. LABEL ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND CLOTHING/SHOES.
3. When you finish rehearsing a piece, IMMEDIATELY change and prepare for your next piece.
4. Please be patient. A dress rehearsal can be a long and tedious process, so come prepared to wait patiently.
5. Listen. We ask that you listen carefully to all instructions.
6. Help each other. We will have lots of helpers to answer questions and help out.
7. Parents, we ask that you fully supervise your children for the entirety of the rehearsal. The theatre is a big building, and we will be much too busy staging the show to supervise everyone. We cannot guarantee what time we will be done, but we will try our hardest to get everyone out as early as we can. However, it may be a somewhat late evening for some dancers.
8. No children are permitted to leave the building unless accompanied by an adult.
9. Dancers, please wear cover-ups when wearing dancewear or costumes to and from the theatre.

PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES
1. We ask all performers to stay until the end of their show, as we will be presenting awards at this time. This is a good time to present your student with flowers or performance gifts.
2. For Dancers: During the dance recital we will have dressers and helpers to supervise and assist students downstairs during the performance. However, young children may need their parent's assistance getting ready before and between their performances. Very young children may sit on their parents lap in the audience AFTER they are done performing, as long as you are sure to have them backstage in time for the final bows. All other performers must stay backstage.

During the show...
* Helpers will announce each time a performance is starting.
* You will be asked to line up at the bottom of the stairs two performances before yours. Helpers will then escort you to the stage.
* After performing, IMMEDIATELY change and prepare for your next performance.
* Pay attention and be aware. Please do not play or visit unless you are completely ready for your next act and ready to go. Please WHISPER!

PLEASE CLEARLY LABEL ALL CLOTHES, SHOES, INSTRUMENTS and PERSONAL ITEMS!

TICKETS
Tickets will be for sale at the door. We strongly recommend buying your ticket in advance, as space is limited and we DO sell out. Anyone who is not a performer must have a ticket. *Ticket Prices: $10/person. *Ticket sales are how we pay for use of the theatre, sound and light technicians, t-shirts and awards for the kids and all of the dozens of costs that go into producing a show. We sincerely appreciate your support.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOGRAPHY
We will not have a professional videographer filming this year. Therefore, you are welcome to video record and take pictures during the performance and dress rehearsals, but please make sure you are not blocking others view while doing so.
