MEN PLEASERS
___________________
Galatians 1:10 (NKJV) says, “For do I now persuade (preach, teach) men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bond servant of Christ.”
Ephesians 6:6 (NKJV) also says, “Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing (and preaching or teaching) the will of God from the heart… (vs. 7b) as to the Lord, and not to men…”
The pulpits of many churches and television evangelists are filled with men-pleasers. Galatians 1:10 tells us these ministers are not of God. They speak only words or messages that are pleasing and motivational to make people feel good about themselves. They do not preach about sin, repentance, holy living, or the need for salvation, and the born-again experience in Jesus Christ.
They preach a motivational message to improve one’s personal image of themselves. They preach social change or political messages. They preach to make people feel comfortable or complacent in “their own skin.”
They are not preaching a biblical New Testament gospel such as Paul preached. Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians about those who preach “another gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:4) “as the serpent beguiled Eve…so that your minds should be corrupted…” (vs. 3.)
Galatians 1:6 also says, “…that ye are so soon removed…unto another gospel.” Vs. 10 says that they do this so as to “seek to please men.”
I remind you of this: they do not preach about sin, for fear of offending people. They do not preach the need for salvation or that Jesus is the one and only way to heaven. They are what 2 Corinthians 11:13 says, “deceitful workers, transforming themselves (to appear as) into apostles (preachers) of Christ…” v. 14 also says, “for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light…as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be (destruction) according to their (misleading) works.” (Parentheses are mine.)
Discern and understand the sermons or teachings that you hear or read. If it is a “fluff (sugar coated) or “feel good” message, then it is not the real gospel. It is “another gospel” designed to keep you from receiving the true gospel. Avoid such ministries no matter how much they may appeal to you.
Be aware. Stay in the Word and keep in tune with the Holy Spirit.
