THE POWER FROM FASTING AND PRAYER
PART 1
We see in Matthew 17 that a man had brought his demon possessed epileptic son to Jesus’ disciples, but they were powerless to deal with this strong demon. The man then brought his son to Jesus who promptly cast the demon out of him.
These disciples had cast out demons before so it puzzled them why they could not do it this time. Matthew 17:14-21 tells the story. The disciples came to Jesus to ask him why they were unable to cast out this particular demon.
Jesus said that their faith (vs. 20) was not strong enough. He told them (NKJV) in Verse 21, “However, this kind (of strong demon) does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Note: this verse has been omitted in the corrupted modern versions.)
What kind of difference do prayer and fasting make in the life of a believer? Is it for everyone, or just for some? In this series we shall examine these questions.
Jesus fasted and prayed. If it was important for him, perhaps it is important for us also.
This series will not in any way criticize those who never fast. It shall, however, look at the advantages that many may receive from fasting with prayer.

DISTRACTIONS
In Luke chapter 8 Jesus talks about the parable of the sower that planted seed into four different kinds of soil. The seed is the word of God. Only one out of the four types of soil were good ground. It received the seed and brought forth fruit. The other three soils had things happen that caused the soil to be unfruitful. One of the soils was the thorny ground.
The thorny ground received the word, but when the cares of the world, riches, and pleasures of life got hold of the seed, it was choked, and the ground was unfruitful. Let’s speak about the cares of the world. The word cares comes from the Greek word “merimna” which means distractions. It is so easy with the chaos of the world to be caught up in the “drama” that you have no time for the word of God to take root. Many are glued to television and the internet listening to the news, and it destroys faith. Yes, we need to know what to pray for, but when we are consumed with this “knowledge” we are not consumed with the word of God.
Distractions are so prevalent in most of our lives, that we must take time to shut out the “noise” and listen to the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” If you want to know what is coming, then take time to listen to the Holy Spirit. He will tell you the truth.
When Covid hit four years ago there were very few words of warning that came forth from the “established” prophets. They said 2020 would be a good year, and a year of clear vision. Yet, if they had been listening to the Holy Spirit, He would have told them the TRUTH of what was coming. They were prophesying what they wanted to happen and not what happened. Often, we listen to prophets and are guided by what they have to say. They can become a distraction to our spending time with God for ourselves. It is not wrong to listen to a prophetic word, as I move in that gift and pray people hear what God says through me, but do not let it be your only source of information. Get your information firsthand, from God.
Are you easily distracted? How often when you sit down to read your bible does something happen to draw you away from it? How about when you pray? Do you shut off your phone and choose to have no interruptions? Distractions will always try to control you, but you do not have to let them do that. You have the choice to say no.
Much is coming this year that will bring fear. Many things will happen that will bring distractions to keep you from listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Make a choice right now to not let that happen. Choose to tune into God and tune out of listening to the chaos. Your life will be a lot happier when you do. Let the word of God bring forth fruit in your life because you have gotten rid of the distractions so your heart can receive the word. Then you will bring forth fruit!

A PROPHETIC WORD
AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS
For, have I not said in my word that I would lead you? Have I not said that I would lead you into paths of righteousness? Have I not said that I would lead you beside the still waters my child? Oh, yes, my child, I desire to lead you. I have desired that you follow me and see what I would show you. For I have much to show you of what I have prepared for you. The path that I would take you on will have many curves. There will be things that would cause you to fear but know that I am beside you. If I were to tell you all about the path, I am sure that you would cringe and say “Why, Lord? Why must I go down this path? Surely, there is an easier way, Lord.” But, my child, the easy way is not the way for you. You have been chosen to rise above the things that would bring fear to you and others, and the only way to do this is to go down the path I have chosen. I would say this, that as you go down this path, you will become stronger than you were before you went down it. I would say that the refiner’s fires will be hot on this path, but if you follow my lead, then you will come through as gold, silver, and precious stones that only come forth through the fiery trials. The only way is to follow me. The only way to grow is to follow me. You will not remain the same person as you go down this path that I lead you on. I can assure you that the changes that will take place will bring you to a place of peace, rest, and safety, saith the Lord. It is your choice, my child, to take the lead or follow me. I await your answer.

You know those things the enemy sent to destroy you and even convinced a few others that; One or all of them would take you OUT and put you UNDER. Well SURPRISE to them all; For the truth of the matter is…Any one of them can and will be the very thing God uses to take you UP and to put you OVER with. Oh, yes for God is at work proving all the haters and the naysayers to be wrong; Really WRONG. So you can cheer up now and look forward to what’s just ahead; For God is restoring the best of the best people, places and things to your life; And the enemy thought they were all done and over with as far as you were concerned. Well, it’s looking like another great big SURPRISE for the enemy. Yes indeed, God will RESTORE to you as if it never happened...And the enemy and his allies will have a front row seat…To see the RESTORATION of ALL the people, the places and the things begin to take place in your life and He’ll do it…Before their very eyes.

Word of the Lord
Will you go with Me? I am leading you but you must follow. Look up and see Me as never before. I am the only One who can save the world. I am preparing even now to change the atmosphere of this world. Come and sit with Me and I will show you more than you can think or imagine. I have always been with you. Even in those times that were hard for you. My hand sustained you and it was My hand that opened the door for you to come out of your situation. So here we are: you stand before a door. Go through the door. What is on the other side is My destiny for you. You have touched My heart as you have worshipped Me. Be steadfast in your worship of Me but now is a new thing. Go through the door. What is on the other side is your destiny. I have prepared you for such a time as this and I will be with you. Nothing else has changed but my hand is in your destiny and I will not let go of you.

Are you really a child at heart?
I believe I have a friend like that.
Maybe my friend, because as children,
We both took that part, that child like faith,
That childlike wonder.
It is a gift to have childlike wonder.
Childlike wonder, you never lose.
Even though we travel different roads,
A lot of rocky terrain, we still keep and hold,
Childlike faith and wonder.
That is a gift, a gift of God.
Some children in the World, have no idea,
Of childlike wonder. Maybe they’re in war zones,
Holocaust children.
Think of those and pray for them.
Pray they will receive childlike wonder,
That only Jesus can give. He can give it to all ages.
