Youth This Week

Our high school youth have arrived safely in Savannah, Georgia for their mission trip. This group will work on housing repairs for residents in need, and they will return to Hickory this Friday, June 14.

Ice Cream Social

Make plans to enjoy an ice cream social with your church family this Sunday, June 16 from 4-6pm to kick off VBS and to meet Virginia Kackley, our new Director of Youth and Family Ministries. We’ll be outside, weather permitting, with fun activities for all ages.

High School Youth Conference

Our high school youth will attend the Montreat Youth Conference July 7-13 for a week of group and spiritual formation. The cost is $150 (scholarships available), and you must sign up by June 21. Email virginia@hickoryfpc.org with questions.

Summer Worship and Punch on the Patio

Our summer worship and Punch on the Patio will continue through Labor Day weekend. We will worship as one at 10am and alternate worship spaces. You’ll find the worship schedule and Punch on the Patio sign-up and details on our website. We will have Punch on the Patio on the weeks when volunteers sign up. Hosting a Punch on the Patio is a great way to get to know your church family.

Summer Saints

Richard and Heather will lead an adult class Sunday mornings from 9-9:45am in the parlor this summer on Barbara Brown Taylor’s An Altar in the World. Reading the book is not required, and all are welcome at any time. The group will take a break on July 7.

FPC Book Club

We will meet again on August 29 to discuss Peace Like A River by Leif Enger. Grab a copy this summer and make plans to join us!

YMCA Yoga at FPC

The Hickory YMCA is undergoing major construction and began holding yoga classes in our high school room last week. They have graciously offered free classes to our members age 13 and above while they are using our space. Click here for the latest schedule.

Blessing Box

Our middle school youth have constructed a Blessing Box (with the help of Adam Oakley) beside the parking lot on 3rd Avenue. Help us keep this box filled with items to help those in need. Gently used clothing and non-perishable food items are recommended.
