HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

I hope everyone had a great start to 2017!
All the best to you and your families!!

OLLI IS COMING TO THE LIBRARY THIS THURSDAY!!
January 5 at 1 pm: OLLI Volunteer Betsy Gemmecke will be at the library to talk about the Osher Life Long Learning Institute at Granite State College.
"OLLI" provides stimulating courses and activities for individuals 50+.

Betsy,  a long-time local educator and OLLI fan, will let you know about the types of courses offered, how you can get involved, and give you a preview of some of the classes this spring.

Learning for the love of it   - that is OLLI's goal. OLLI presents opportunities to seek knowledge, share experiences, ask questions, exchange ideas, stay current and explore new insights with no tests, no grades and no prerequisites.

Come to the Library on Thursday and find out what OLLI is all about and why other local residents are already members. Join OLLI - open the door to an exciting and rewarding world of learning and meeting new people.  Come for the classes; stay for the friends!

WEATHER CLOSINGS ??!!

It is freezing rain out there and you are not sure we are open??
Check our website at NorthConwayLibrary.com and find out! We post weather closings always on our website in the calendar section. And on Facebook and Twitter as well. Or listen to the radio: WMWV 93.5 and Magic 104 report our weather closings, too, as does WMUR-TV.

In order to keep staff and volunteers safe, we sometimes err on the side of caution and decide to close even if you think the weather is not so bad. We also take into consideration the condition of our parking lot, the stairs, and the ramp since we want to keep YOU safe as well!

When in doubt, please check our website or give us a call. Thanks!

NEWS FROM OVERDRIVE- DOWNLOADABLE BOOK PROGRAM

As you probably know, we will be losing the Nook Periodicals format soon. Therefore, we will lose more than two dozen digital magazines from our NH Overdrive collection this month, starting next week. We will lose most of the others periodicals in mid-March.

There is no timeline yet for the new digital magazine format that will replace the Nook Periodicals format. We will let you know as soon as the new vendor informs us.
Thanks for your patience.   The e-books and audiobooks can be downloaded as usual- no changes!

WANT TO MAKE A LAST TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION FOR 2016?!

Fear not- it's not too late! You can still donate to the library and write it off your taxes for 2016. Just mail in a check or go online and mention it's a 2016 contribution. As you know, the library is completely privately funded- through donations- and doesn't get any support from the town whereas w e are here to serve YOU and to enrich your
life and the lives of everyone in the community- young and old.

Any amount would be much appreciated!

"A MAN CALLED OVE" DISCUSSION JAN. 12, 2017
The Library's Book Group is reading "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman and will discuss it on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the library.  This is an open book discussion group- everyone is welcome!

"Ove" is a wonderful, terrific book out a curmudgeon which makes you laugh out loud a lot and get teary-eyed at others. Both Martha and I (Andrea) think this is one of the very best books of the last year!

FMI, go to the Library's website or get your copy of the book at the Library!

The North Conway Public Library is a privately funded library.
We look and act like a public library but we receive no public funding-
no money from the town of Conway, the State of NH, or the federal government.

We must raise 100% of our operating budget each year.  Hence, we depend on your donations, our corporate sponsors and our fundraising programs!

Without your support we could not be free and open to the public. Thank you!
