Industry Insights Benefit Students
|
Choosing a career path, selecting a focus, and determining a path to success can be challenging. A program at Reinhardt helps students discover how their interests and majors can be parlayed into various sectors and create connections with people in those fields.
The Spring 2024 Workforce Wednesday series kicked off on January 24th with a Careers in Health session. Students networked with representatives from Children Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital Cherokee, and Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center.
Kaliah Wimbush (RU2026) aspires to become an athletic trainer. Following the experience, she noted that hearing the panelists discuss their career journeys, their organizations, and the different types of employment opportunities available within the healthcare industry conveyed valuable insights.

Building Upon a Partnership
|
Reinhardt takes pride in its long-standing community partnerships. G. Cecil Pruett Community Family YMCA in Canton represents a prime example. On January 29th, Dean of Students, Dr. Walter May, participated in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the building’s newest additions and refurbishing.
A new esports lab located in the Reinhardt Room provides a safe space for kids to enjoy playing video games, compete as a team, and make new friends. Reinhardt University’s Esports Club will regularly visit and mentor the middle schoolers involved with the YMCA’s esports program.

Flint Hall Organ's Majestic Impact
| |
The magnificent pipes of the organ in Flint Hall continue to bring life and sound to the stage. Since its installation in the Fall of 2021, the custom-made organ has provided an exemplary learning opportunity for students while captivating listeners.
World-touring Austrian artist Constanze Hochwartner played the organ alongside trombonist Peter Steiner during a recent performance. She reflects, “This past November, I had the pleasure to play on the organ and it was an amazing experience. Every organ is very unique and such a joy to explore." Before and after her performance, Hochwartner took time to answer questions from enthusiastic students and audience members, many of whom were listening to the instrument for the first time.
Students playing the instrument resonate in Flint Hall during their studies with organ instructor Herb Buffington. Staff Accompanist Wanda Cantrell touts, “Without this wonderful new instrument, Reinhardt would never have attracted a teacher of Mr. Buffington's caliber, nor would we be able to attract artists like Constanze Hochwartner.”

First Pitch Dinner Hits a Home Run
|
To kick off the 2024 season before the first game on February 1st, the team’s annual First Pitch Dinner and Silent Auction was held on January 27th. The event attracted approximately 400 people and generated financial support for Reinhardt Baseball and its student-athletes. Contributions support one of the best programs in the NAIA.
At this year’s event, Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer Chipper Jones spoke at the dinner. Highlights included stories about his career, the thrills of winning a World Series, and encouraging student-athletes to cherish every moment.
Coach Jonathan Burton conveyed that a team effort secured the successful outcome of the event, and stated, "[It] was one of the best events we have organized as a program in my time here at Reinhardt. We had tremendous support for our program and were able to raise significant funds to help improve the student-athlete experience at Reinhardt. [We] hit this one out of the park. Now let's go win some games!"
The first home games are February 8th through February 11th when the Eagles host the Southeast Rumble tournament at Ken White Field.
