HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR THE RESIDENTS OF
KEY BISCAYNE AND MIAMI
Wishing you and all your loved ones a healthy, Happy Easter and Passover.

While I usually send monthly updates about local events, new restaurants to visit, activities for families and visitors and fun things to do around town - I found myself staring at what I had initially started writing close to the middle of March. I think it goes without saying that our world has been turned upside down quite a bit since that time, leaving many people struggling and others that had planned on being in South Florida stuck somewhere else in the world.

As we continue to weather this storm and take stock of our surroundings, I feel most of us are starting to realize it could be a while before we see the Key and our wonderful city restored back to the Village and Miami we all love and cherish.

I often try to think of the positive aspects in whatever life throws at us, and I think in some ways this pandemic has brought families closer together and personally, I have seen a lot of inspiration in the form of music, videos, artwork, throwback photos and videos of old friends and family and most importantly- people helping one another and contributing where possible to our community, which brings me joy. I've spoken to a bunch of old friends and had many Zoom and face-time calls with buddies and old band mates from California as well as close friends in Europe. If you have been thinking about calling an old friend or relative who you have not spoken to in a while, its a great time to re-connect.

My heart goes out to all of those who have lost friends and family members and are struggling with loved ones that are sick or having a difficult time right now.

I'd like to extend a special thank you to all those on the front lines including our local Police and Fire Departments, Medical Professionals and good citizens that are helping those affected in getting the help they need whether it be medical care, grocery delivery, or simply talking with those who need help. Id also like to thank our postal workers and those delivering packages, food and supplies - your help is very much appreciated!

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to contact me - I will do whatever I can to help.
COVID-19 UPDATE / HELPFUL INFORMATION AND LINKS
We want to win the fight against COVID-19. That means we must all do our part to stop the spread of this virus. We all need to be socially responsible and practice social distancing for the wellbeing of our entire Village and City. Public safety is one of the core pillars of our community. We empower you to  join the Village in its Call-to-Action  to keep Key Biscayners and Miami residents home and safe.

The best way to avoid illness and be safe is to avoid exposure to COVID-19 is to continue to distance ourselves - at least 6-feet-between one another, wear masks and gloves while out in public and be respectful of each-other. Again, the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus.

In addition to washing your hands regularly with soap and warm water for at lease 20 seconds and avoiding touching your face, the CDC recommends the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers with great than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol as the preferred form of hand hygiene in healthcare settings, based upon greater access to hand sanitizer.

Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19 illness.

Visit the CDC website for helpful tips on protecting yourself and others.
