I’m watching Day 3 of the Democratic National Convention.

I laughed, I cried, I felt a thousand things.

And I had an epiphany. Everyone in that Chicago convention hall feels the joy in the room. Everyone watching at home is feeling the joy too.

The convention had Michelle Obama’s fiery inspiration and joyful calls for us to “do something.” We have our very own Jason Berlin.

The convention had beautiful videos. So do we because of our volunteer Media Team including stirring countdown videos from our Media Team Lead Jeff Sielaff.

They had speeches and speechwriters galore. We have our very own communications expert in super volunteer Patti Crane.

The convention hall had thousands of delegates, elected representatives, and volunteers, cheering – holding up signs of support: for Joe, for Kamala, for Coach Walz, for the United States of America. Field Team 6 has volunteers who share thousands of pro-democracy, pro-Democrat messages on social media with calls to action.

They had a rollicking roll call that will make you weep. It did me. We have a Partnerships Team led by my lovable fiancé, Kala Maxym, that helps even the smallest groups do good work registering new Democrats wherever they are. And big ones. That makes me tear up too.

They had Lil Jon, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend. We have the wonder of legendary super volunteers: Deb Verla who trains hundreds of volunteers a week in free BYOP Texting (over 800 signed up for today’s BYOP training and 271,967 free texts sent just last week!), and Meredith Pominville who leads the textbanking team and volunteers who sent out 2.3 million texts in just the last week, and Postcarding Lead Sharon Lord Greenspan, who’s shepherded the fierce writing force that are FT6 postcarders to 3 million postcards sent, Jo Ann Bollen, our in-person drive concierge reporting 60 shifts just last week! We are graced with the talents of Chief Strategist Cory Alpert who sent millions of registration emails just this week! And all of this is possible due to our Data Team. Too many stars at Field Team 6 to count them all.

The DNC had four packed days of events. I only have a few short paragraphs to say that my epiphany is that the joy that I’ve witnessed while watching this most excellent DNC, is that I get to feel that joy every day at Field Team 6. All because of you, our volunteers and donors.

Now, everybody get your hands up! Everybody get your hands up! Donate. Volunteer. Help behind the scenes. Joyfully. Because... when we fight... we win!

POSTCARDING IS SO MUCH FUN, WE MADE A FUND!

Texts and tweets are great, but sometimes it takes a good ol' fashioned piece of paper to get the job done! Yep, in some cases, postcards are the best –or only – way activists can pitch in to help save our democracy. Unfortunately, postcards and postage are dang pricey and only getting more-so (thanks, DeJoy!).

We have a mighty mission – send ONE MILLION TEXTS EVERY WEEK! Because texting has a gigantic impact. In the 2022 cycle, 30% of the folks we texted registered as Democrats or independents – and that's exactly what it's gonna take to keep the White House and Senate and win back the Senate.
