TEDCO’s mdPACE Program Announces Consulting Engagement with BondTrue, LLC
TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced a strategic partnership through its mdPACE program with innovative medical device company, BondTrue .

“BondTrue represents the type of IP and technology that—combined with our expertise—has qualities to become a FDA cleared device and have broad applications,” said George Davis, CEO of TEDCO. “Our goal with this program is to guide medical device developers like BondTrue to commercialization, and ultimately make a sustained economic impact here in Maryland.”

The company recently received a second Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) award ($100,000) from the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, which enabled collaboration between surgeons and engineers at the top of their fields, resulting in innovative breakthroughs. The company then applied for TEDCO’s mdPACE program, where it will receive assistance and funding to navigate and graduate the commercialization process. With TEDCO’s backing, BondTrue has entered the critical prototype development stage—which will be used for multiple purposes including product trials, animation development and investor/partner communications.

TEDCO’s Rural Business Innovation Initiative Announces First Recipient of Pre-Seed Funding
TEDCO’s Rural Business Innovation Initiative (RBI2) announced Plum Dragon as its first recipient to receive funding through the program. The company will be provided with ongoing mentoring and funding to advance its success.

Plum Dragon , based in Chester, manufactures and sells a line of 100% herbal and natural topical analgesics for trauma injury and pain such as tendonitis, bruising, sprains, strains, fractures, muscle and connective tissue injuries. The company received a $25,000 investment from TEDCO.
TEDCO Announces New Members to Board of Directors
TEDCO announced the appointments of Myra Norton and Robert Lord to the organization’s Board of Directors. TEDCO is governed by its board, which is appointed by the Governor for four-year terms with the consent of the Maryland State Senate.
Myra Norton is the president and chief operating officer of Arena , a Baltimore-based firm that delivers Big Data and Predictive Analytics solutions for talent acquisition within the healthcare industry.
Robert Lord is the co-founder and president of Protenus , a Baltimore-based healthcare analytics platform that detects inappropriate activity in healthcare institutions. Lord works with a team of innovative engineers, business professionals and scientists to ensure the protection of patient data.

TEDCO 2.0 initiative rolls out new funding, programming efforts for Md. startups
The TEDCO 2.0 initiative was announced by new CEO  George Davis  in October. Davis, a veteran entrepreneur and investor himself, said he wants the state-backed organization to be more than  just an investment entity , he wants it to be the "glue that brings Maryland's startup ecosystem together.

ClearMask, a TEDCO portfolio company, wins $25,000 prize from Hopkins' Social Innovation Lab
Local startup ClearMask has landed $25,000 in funding as the winner of this year's cohort prize for Johns Hopkins' Social Innovation Lab.

Plastic surgeon-led startup, BondTrue, seeks $2 million in funding, FDA clearance for device. 
BondTrue has also been accepted into the TEDCO's mdPACE program as it works to expedite the FDA approval process.

Edtech startup, and TEDCO portfolio company, Allovue adds $2 million to Series A funding round, plans to hire
Baltimore education technology startup Allovue has raised another $2 million, bringing its Series A financing round total to $7 million.

The new funding is an extensio n  of the company’s most recent financing round, first announced in 2016. Investors include New York-based Rethink Education, Oakland, California-based Kapor Capital and other angel investors. The firm is backed by more than $9 million in funding to date.

TEDCO refocus aims to create ‘big, giant successes’
Under the Maryland Technology Development Corp.’s reorganization efforts, TEDCO’s funds will focus on being disciplined and making good investments, with an eye toward overall economic value towards the state. The organization does not want to just fund Maryland startups, it wants to fund the next Under Armour, a company that can be an economic development star by bringing significant jobs and revenue to Maryland.

“We took this on with the belief that if you build great businesses, great things happen economically,” said Andy Jones, TEDCO’s chief investment officer and managing director of the Maryland Venture Fund. “But let’s just start with building great businesses.”

TEDCO to Host Entrepreneur Expo & Stem Cell Symposium on October 30
Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced its annual Entrepreneur Expo & Stem Cell Symposium. Steve Case will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. This year, TEDCO is celebrating its 20 th  anniversary and will highlight the organization’s history and successes during the Expo & Symposium.

Baltimore medical device startup joins TEDCO program
The mdPACE program helps medical device startups navigate the federal regulatory approval process, with a particular focus on the Food and Drug Administration’s 510(k) approval.

BondTrue became the 18th Maryland startup to partner with the mdPACE program, which began three years ago.

Baltimore tech company leaders appointed to TEDCO board
With the appointment by Gov. Larry Hogan, each will serve a four-year term on the board that oversees the state’s quasi-public agency backing early-stage tech companies. The appointments include:

Myra Norton, President and COO of  Arena , the Otterbein-based company bringing predictive analytics to the hiring process at healthcare systems.

Robert Lord, cofounder and President of  Protenus , the Little Italy company that makes a platform to protect patient data in healthcare.
