Dear Tuscaloosa Community,
Since COVID entered the scene in March, 2020, our normal routines cease to exist. The uncertainty of this crisis has brought many industries struggling to find their new normal, as well as overcoming the economic impact brought with it. It is with a heavy heart that Tuscaloosa Community Dancers will not be bringing The Nutcracker to the stage in December, 2020.
Our first priority will always be the health and safety of our dancers and supporters. Several factors weighed into our decision, some of which include: limitations placed on audience attendance, additional costs of personnel to implement and adhere to the regulations, and abiding to social distancing protocols with such a large cast. Additionally, we know that the effects of COVID have impacted our community greatly and with respect to that, we have not solicited donations for the year 2020.
However, we will still hold a small audition on September 13th to cast an excerpt to be live streamed with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Concert. We are planning many exciting things that we have to look forward to for TCD in the next year! The year 2021 brings the 50th Anniversary of our organization! We will start our celebratory year with a collaborative performance in the Spring (March) with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra followed by a new Halloween show in late October, culminating with The Nutcracker being performed with a LIVE Orchestra! Thank you for supporting us in these times of uncertainty and please see below for further details on our upcoming events.
