Welcome to TABLE Thymes where we share news about our programs, partnerships, community happenings, volunteer opportunities, and more. We hope you enjoy learning what goes on in our home on East Main St. to bring healthy, fresh food to kids in our community!

"Just knowing there is a glimmer of hope for food for my son is a wonderful blessing within itself!"

UNC Football Players Go the Extra Yard

On Saturday, March 25th, we were excited to open our doors to 25 UNC football players who volunteered to package bags of food for the kids we serve! Before starting the shift, they learned about food insecurity in our community and about TABLE’s mission. After assembly lines were created, the players had a friendly competition to see which line could fill the most bags. Over 400 bags were assembled and distributed to our kids that week!

Providing our kids with the freshest produce possible is one of TABLE’s key pillars because fruits and vegetables are critical to the body’s health and development. TABLE intern Grace Berry had a chance to talk with one of TABLE’s farm partners, Gabor Farms, about their business and partnership with TABLE.

From Farm to TABLE

How We Deliver Fresh Food to Our Kids

Laura, TABLE's Director of Operations, shares how TABLE is able to ensure our kids receive the freshest fruits and vegetables in their bags every week. With over 800 kids receiving produce, TABLE relies on its local farm partners, volunteers, and the organization’s ability to adapt to create the most efficient processes.

A mom called TABLE and told us she is so grateful for the fruits and vegetables they receive. She said she can’t afford to spend money on food unless she knows for sure that her kids will eat it, so TABLE is an opportunity for her children to try new-to-them nutritious foods.

Entire month of April

Chapel Hill & Carrboro Stores

When you shop at Weaver Street Market in April, you can “round up” to the nearest dollar to donate to TABLE. We received over $60,000 from last year’s campaign which allowed us to source more food from local farms and periodically provide specialty items like bread and eggs to our families.

Did you know we double bag the food we deliver to children? That means on average, we use 1,600 bags every week. Please consider donating your gently used plastic grocery bags. Drop them off during office hours or in the box out back.
