Hams that they are, Grand Picnic shows their rye humor as they sandwich in tunes as long as we can mustard the strength to ketchup. The toast of the town, Alex and Annie assemble a double dance double decker of Wonder-filled no-loaf contras. The best thing since sliced bread, Grand Picnic rises to the occasion with tunes you knead to get your dogs dancin’ and your buns cookin’. Roll in with your bun and only, it’s the yeast you can do. Don’t be sconed, leave your muffin the car and wear a flour in your hair.

Alex Deis-Lauby

Alex Deis-Lauby began contra dancing in 2011 while at school in Chicago. After catching the contra bug, she began calling in 2014. Alex’s smooth voice, clear teaching style and engaging dance selections delight dancers from coast to coast. When she’s not calling, you can find her on the dance floor twirling away! Alex will be calling the advanced afternoon contras session.

Will You Be a Hospitality Host?

You can help us out! We have been booking more distant talent as our calendar below reveals. Some of our talent travel hours to play and call for us. Being able to offer a place to stay after the dance is greatly appreciated by our bands and callers, which entices them to book with us. A bed or sofa, and a simple breakfast are all that is required. In return, you'll get to know some really sweet folks and perhaps get some insight into their music or calling. You will certainly receive their gratitude. If you would like to be on our hospitality host list, contact Doug at chair@swingintern.org.

Bringing Back the Baked Goods

Back in Tern, BC [before Covid], we had quite the spread of tasty treats at the break. We welcome the return of home-baked goods [or your favorite store-bought treat] to share at the break—you'll be hungry after all the great dancing.

Please bring your own labeled water bottle which can be refilled at the kitchen sink.

Updated Covid Policy

Covid Vaccination and Masking are longer required.

Although vaccines are recommended, we are no longer checking vaccine status. Masks are optional in all dance lines.
