Clipper START: Fare Discount Pilot Program

For most Bay Area households, transportation is the third-biggest monthly expense — trailing only the cost of housing and food.

Clipper START is a fare-discount pilot program for riders with lower incomes. Launched in 2020, the pilot program offers a 50% single-ride fare discount to eligible low-income adults for travel on most of the Bay Area’s transit agencies. The pilot has been extended through June 30, 2025.

Sustainability Tip of the Month

How Can We Enjoy A Sustainable Summer? Let's Count The Ways.

Summertime simplicity lends itself to sustainable living. Rethink and tweak a habit or two and live a little greener this summer without dampening your carefree spirit.

Why not spend less of your vacation in an airport or in crowds by adventuring locally? Check out the Weekend Sherpa and whet your appetite for discovering beauty and adventure just beyond your backyard.

Having a party or picnic? Add some flair to your backyard festivities while choosing earth friendly themes, decor and menus.

And make sure your sustainable summer to-do list includes checking your sunscreen ingredients to make sure they are marine safe.
