Suspending Use of Otter.ai

The use of Artificial Intelligence tools is growing and can potentially improve efficiency and drive growth for businesses.

SCORE Mentors are already using AI to supplement mentoring, and improve chapter operations. One recent example of this has been the use of the application Otter.ai which connects to virtual meeting tools and provides real-time transcription.

AI still has its limitations - especially concerning accuracy of output and data privacy. For this reason, we have suspended the use of Otter.ai effective today, July 19, 2023. Otter.ai has been disconnected from all SCORE Zoom accounts.

We've learned a lot from the tests and trials with this tool, and want to thank the volunteers that piloted it and gave us feedback on the app. This information, along with other AI learnings, is all being collected as we form a volunteer task force to evaluate the future potential of AI tools with SCORE. More information will come on this in the coming months, and in FY24.
