Client Impact

When we first met Ashley, she had little motivation to go to school due to her struggles with self-esteem. She was a very shy and quiet young person who needed someone to hold space for her to be vulnerable and be her authentic self.

Our Youth Promotora, Julia, began to work with Ashley by providing 1:1 mentorship along with referring her to therapy. Her family signed up for the Parent Project in the Fall of 2023, and Ashley and her little sister began to participate in Entre Amigos.

Now Ashley wakes up with a boost of energy ready and prepared to go to school! Ashley is constantly keeping the family motivated to register for events, resources, and services to continue that emotional and familial growth. She is a completely different girl! Entre Amigos and the Parent Project boosted her outlook on life. Even her mother's emotional and mental health has improved by seeing her little girl begin to thrive. One person’s decision to seek support has helped this entire family begin to understand each other and strive together.

"I can now have a conversation with Ashley, we can talk about her struggles, and her Self-Esteem has been boosted!"

Graduation

A huge congratulations to our class that graduated this week from the Lincoln Parent Project! We had a total of 17 families graduate! These families remained determined to learn for 16 weeks and because of their dedication, they were able to complete our program. We value their hard work, thirst for knowledge, and are beyond proud of each of the participants!

"I have participated in Parent Project three times during the different life stages of my children, and in each class, I have learned different tools to continue communicating better with my children".

Latino Leadership Council held an event to promote physical activities for families. We had 7 adults and 7 children join us to get their bodies moving!

The group got together at Maidu Park to do a "whole body work out" routine. The families got to cool down and enjoy a post work out protein muffin hand made by our Promotora/Nutritionist Irene Botello!

May Youth Events

LLC youth went out together to Scandia after school to play some mini golf, practice their batting skills, and have some friendly competition to see who the best racer is.

Although some youth are new and a bit shy, events like these help them learn social skills and build their confidence while forming life-long friendships.

In May the Entre Amigos youth were excited to try something new in the Entre Amigos kitchen. They got to make Salvadoran quesadillas, which is a different type of quesadilla from what they are used to, but everyone was open to expand their palates and give it a go!

As the weather is getting warmer, LLC is hosting our youth programs to get some ice cream!

Youth are getting excited about summer programming, and can't wait to be out of school to spend more time with each other.
