The City of Orange Police Association (COPA) is reaching out to you on behalf of Sergeant Robert McCafferty.
During Rob’s 24-year career, he has put the needs and safety of the City of Orange community above his own. Rob has held numerous positions within the Orange Police Department, but is currently the supervisor of our Crime Reduction Unit (CRU). CRU’s main objective is to arrest violent offenders and keep all members of the community safe. Rob is also a 20 year member of SWAT and supervises the Long Rifle Unit.
On the afternoon of March 12, 2024, Rob was returning to the police station from a training run and suffered a massive heart attack across the street from the police department. Thanks to the life saving measures performed by our employees and the Orange Fire Department, he was revived for transport to St. Joseph Hospital.
Rob underwent immediate angioplasty heart procedure and spent two weeks in the ICU on a ventilator. Rob has spent the last four weeks in the hospital and is now breathing on his own, but only recently he is responding to commands. Rob’s recovery has been slow, but his loving wife, children and granddaughter continue to support him during this difficult time.
We are setting up this FUND A HERO campaign to help ease the financial burden on Rob’s family. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in Rob’s journey to recovery. Your support and kind thoughts/prayers are deeply appreciated. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social media networks. Together, we can make a positive impact and provide Sergeant Rob McCafferty with the assistance he needs to heal and regain his strength.
