Happy March, Lancers:

This week PTSA recognized 25 students with second quarter E^3 Awards! These students were nominated by a staff member for their Exceptional Effort and Engagement in the classroom and around campus.

Athletics continues rolling into the Spring with softball, baseball, swimming, boy's tennis, boy's golf, boy's volleyball, and track. Track participated in the annual Fullerton Rotary All-City Track Meet last Saturday as well. League play is right around the corner for all our student-athletes!

Speaking of student-athletes, we honored our Athletes of the Month today: Sienna Bertsch (Water Polo), Aveyah Ramos (Wrestling), Liam Kim (Wrestling), and MacKenzy Jung (Cheer). Our Scholar Athletes of the Month were Jaden Shim (Basketball), Gwen Briones (Basketball), Caleb Ahn (Soccer), Celine Villasenor (Soccer), Lauren Jacobsen (Water Polo), Gavin Kim (Wrestling), and Elena Hernandez (Cheer).

The SHHS Model United Nations club students recently attended a conference at Laguna Hills. President Mei-Ling Leal (left), delegate William Lin (middle), and delegate Chloe Aeum (right) were there and William Lin received a Research award.

COFA Updates

Congratulations to The Accolade's online news website for winning two top prizes as part of the Orange County Journalism Education Association write-off contest held last Saturday. The staff earned a Best of Show for its online news website and another for a podcast produced by senior Stacy Kim and junior Faith Jung.

Individual award-winners were: Online web editor-in-chief senior Susie Kim -- a first-place trophy for news writing; Spotlight co-editor junior Alexxa Berumen -- a second-place trophy for feature writing; assistant Arts & Entertainment editor junior Nathan Lee -- a second-place trophy for newspaper layout; Arts & Entertainment editor junior Faith Jung -- a third-place trophy for critical review. Others who competed earned certificates for placing in the Top 10 of their writing categories.
