NEWS

Welcome back to Oolong Gallery as we are winding down summer break,

Feel free to sign up for our new Private Collector Club which requires some vetting. Please share the sign-up landing page with art patrons in mind. Subscriptions can always be modified by selecting Update Profile in the footer at the end of any newsletter.

Oolong Gallery is an independent organism: the financial freedom derives from the sale of art it features.

We will therein be offering work from our inventory to collectors, museum patrons, advisors, and designers to facilitate our program and incentivize collecting art. This fall we are participating in Art Basel Miami 2024 as an exhibitor in the NADA Art Fair. Further gallery updates are forthcoming.

For now, we are thrilled to announce the selection of the gallery and artist Sally Scopa by the NADA committee for a solo booth in the annual New Art Dealer's Alliance Fair in Miami, FL early December. Our recently exhibited solo artist Scopa will be presenting new work with Oolong marking her first art fair presentation. Hope to see many of you at our booth and for the spectacle surrounding the fairs.

This fair will mark a milestone for Oolong founder and director Eric Laine, who started his dealer role in NADA Miami as a NY independent curator in 2010 presenting work by Yui Kugimiya and Carlos Valencia. It will be a hard fought pleasure to represent San Diego on the global art stage — now as a gallery.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the gallery thus far. You are much appreciated and always eligible for special consideration. Special praise goes to Philipp S. Rittermann for shooting all the gallery's documentation immaculately since the Markus Bacher | Claire Chambless exhibition of February, 2023. Enjoy the rest of summer!

This summer marks the onset of a collaboration with rising art advisor Sasha Kokuashvili. She recently launched PRSNT Advisory after years working with Frieze, international galleries, institutions and private collectors. We staged selections from the Oolong inventory at a new supper club called 337 by Chef Jay, who is originally from New Orleans. Two shows have been curated so far for the 12 or so dinner guests booking seats each night on weekends. Click here to confirm your reservation and here for a preview of works on view.

Claire Chambless had a recent review in Artillery Magazine from her show at Carlye Packer, Los Angeles with work being placed in the Hammer Museum collection.

Oolong is excited to introduce San Diego artist Joey Vaiasuso and premiere his large-scale paintings made over the past four years, following a 20 year career in sculpture. The gallery will stage an exhibition in the future. A special thanks goes out to art advisor Karina Mirav who helped place a Vaiasuso painting at an architectural showpiece home in Cardiff, CA.
