Conservation Commission Volunteer Day!
June 1, 2024 - 9 AM - 11 AM
Calling All Volunteers and Nature Enthusiasts!
The Sunapee Conservation Commission will host a Volunteer Day on Saturday, June 1 from 9 to 11 AM.
We are looking for about 12 adult volunteers to help the Conservation Commission improve the Dewey Woods meadow and begin a new trail.
The volunteer work is cutting small pine and aspen saplings in the meadow so that the native shrubs (meadowsweet, blueberry, etc.) can thrive. This field was traditionally a meadow with a wonderful view of Mount Sunapee. Our goal is to restore the meadow to enhance the experience for town residents while also providing a better habitat for wildlife. A second project is to remove loose wood (branches, wood chunks, etc.) from what will become a trail loop around the meadow. Volunteers should be aware that the terrain is uneven in various spots.
The work will be done with hand tools by volunteers, using their own equipment.
Requirements:
1. 18 years of age or older
2. Able to supply own work gloves, loppers, or pruners
3. Complete a signed volunteer form from the Town of Sunapee
4. Able to bend to cut small trees close to the ground.
To sign up or to get additional information, please email conservationcommission@town.sunapee.nh.us
In case of rain, the work day will be moved to Sunday, June 2.

Join us at Sunapee Coffeehouse’s finale to the winter concert season on Friday, May 24th.
GORDON PEERY AND EVE PIERCE
Eve Pierce is making a name for herself all over the Monadnock region. She's such a versatile singer that she can perform in a variety of situations with a huge repertoire to draw from: she's at home with the music of Harold Arlen, Taylor Swift, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Brandy Carlise; jazz classics, '60's and 70's folk rock, contemporary pop, and her own inimitable original compositions.
With Gordon Peery she has found an accompanist who is able to dance, as it were, on the keyboard (or guitar), finding just the right groove for engaging song delivery
The result is a musical journey that takes you all over the place, but ends up leaving you right at home. Sunapee Coffeehouse.
This is the last Sunapee Coffeehouse performance until fall.

Ripcord
May 9 – 26
by David Lindsey-Abaire
A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Assisted Living Facility, so when the cantankerous Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the two women quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden. As heartfelt as it is deliciously inappropriate, this is a high-stakes comedy about two women of a certain age locked in a no-holds-barred battle.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th, pause in remembrance of the brave souls who fought in defense of all that is good and just and honorable, as our country and allied nations have done since 1921.
“The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders fields.” John McCrea.
