Patty Larkin @ Flying Goose Pub
THURSDAY, Mar 21
7:30 pm
With eleven studio albums and two live recordings under her belt, Patty mines the intersections of poetry and song with her innovative 14th release, Bird In A Cage. Bird puts poems from ten notable poets to song, including US Poet Laureates William Carlos Williams, Stanley Kunitz, Kay Ryan, Robert Pinsky and Billy Collins, for a new and haunting collection that pulses with the magic of lyricism. Poems are made to be shared aloud, and with Bird, Patty takes up that tradition and sets it aglow: her extraordinary musical shadings make each poem a star.

MAR 22
WHITE MOUNTAIN CEILI BAND
Sunapee Coffeehouse
White Mountain Ceilí Band is Dexter Harding on the tenor banjo, Fiona Howell on the flute, Siena Kaplan-Thompson on the fiddle, and Mike Levine on the guitar and occasional concertina. They play Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton instrumental music with warmth and joy, as well as the occasional song.
Dexter first came to Irish music when he played for contra dances around the valley, and the session at May Kelly’s deepened his focus on the Irish tradition.
Fiona grew up playing flute through Mountain Top Music Center, and went on to study music at Loyola University. While in New Orleans she began playing at Irish sessions, and now plays and sings with a few groups around New England.
Siena grew up playing classical violin and viola and switched to fiddle in college when she discovered the Boston Scottish and Cape Breton music scene.
Mike has played a wide range of musical styles, from classical to rock, and more recently bebop. He and Siena have both enjoyed branching out into Irish music with the White Mountain Ceilí Band.

Join the Library and Newbury Beautification Committee on Sunday March 24th at 1pm for Growing a Pollinator Garden! Learn what it takes to grow a beautiful pollinator garden at your home! Insects such as bees and butterflies are helpful, and in some cases, essential, in pollinating many of our food crops such as apples, berries, and vegetables. In recent years, there has been a significant decline in the populations of these wild pollinators. Planting patches of flowers, wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and flowering trees with an emphasis on the use of native plants can encourage and support natural pollinators as well as enhance backyard landscapes. Recommendations will be presented on creating a pollinator habitat from the UNH Master Gardeners!

Please let us know which time you prefer to attend the public information session at The Livery in Sunapee Harbor. This will help us allocate resources for all participants. In addition, we will email you Plan NH's final plan for Sunapee as well as any other additional Charrette information. REGISTER HERE | A two day intensive planning charrette will be held on April 12 and 13, 2024 with a focus on Sunapee Harbor. A charrette is a lively brainstorming session where a team of professionals come together with town officials, civic members and the public. Together, all participants help craft recommendations addressing possibilities for the future. This charrette builds on the initial workshop Plan NH completed in 2007. The recommendations from that exercise inspired in large part the preservation efforts for The Livery in Sunapee Harbor. For more information click here. | |
