Parent Footprint with Dr. Dan: New Podcasts on Family, Life Stories, Surviving, and Balancing It All
Dr. Dan spoke with four new guests this past month, including author Mary Laura Philpott, Rabbi Steve Leder, author Julie Clark, and activist Jennifer Pastiloff.
Love, Life, and Death with Mary Laura Philpott author of Bomb Shelter
Dr. Dan interviews mother, daughter, bestselling author, and lifelong worrier Mary Laura Philpott.
This episode is a powerful and poignant look at motherhood, daughterhood, personhood, and caregiving, along with life, death, and ultimately: joy and hope. Dr. Dan and Mary Laura talk about Mary Laura’s harrowing story, her book BOMB SHELTER: Love, Time, and Other Explosives, and what it means to move through life with a soul made of equal parts anxiety and optimism.
Dr. Dan interviews Rabbi Steve Leder about life, grief, love, suffering, and legacy. Newsweek Magazine twice named him one of the ten most influential rabbis in America but most important to Steve is being a husband and a dad.
In this interview (and in his new book), Rabbi Steve suggests that too often we focus on the material things in life when what we really should consider is the legacy we leave – our values, beliefs, hopes and dreams.
Julie’s honest conversation about her parenting choices, her parents, teaching, writing, and balancing it all will resonate with listeners. Dr. Dan and Julie remind us that we are all on a journey that continues to evolve and change – personally, professionally, and as parents.
Jennifer is an inspiration to thousands -- both online and in person. She is passionate about creating community, self-acceptance, self-love, and being real. She’s embraced her own mental health journey, deafness, parenting experiences, and life’s ups & downs – and encourages us all to do the same. Jennifer is the founder of The Manifest-Station.
"But I can take care of the people around me... and make life a little happier and gentler for as many people as I can. That gives me great peace. So everytime I find myself sort of coming back into that struggle, I have to remind myself: here are the boundaries of reality. Here is what you can't do — what can you do?"
