Volunteer Opportunities and Announcements | |

Hello Tracy,
Summer is here! It is set to be a few BUSY, BUSY months. We are decorating our Eastside apartments, supporting families through summer learning and hosting several youth service groups who will be doing facility improvement projects for us. If you have some time to spare, we hope you'll join us for a day or two (or five). We promise- it'll be a fun, fulfilling time!
Please note that all of these jobs are at our Eastside campus. We still do not have an opening date for the ADC Family Campus. In the event that it happens in June or July, we will send out a separate email with those volunteer opportunities.

We have so much going on this summer to prepare the apartments for our August cohort and make sure our Eastside campus is a welcoming place to call home.

Monthly Supply Sorting
Date: Wed., June 26 & Wed. July 24
Time: 9:30-11:30am
Location: Saranam classroom; 1100 Eubank Blvd. NE, Suite A.
Details: We are so lucky to have several groups of kids join us for their school's annual work-a-thon this month. They will be helping set-up our Decorator Store and doing spring projects around the WFC.
We need 1-2 people on each day to help us manage the projects they will be working on.

Project Management

Details: We have LOTS of fun youth groups joining us this summer to help give back to the community and make memories. They will be doing projects to help prepare apartments and maintain the welcoming feel and functionality of our campus.
We need 1-2 people on each day to help us manage the projects they will be working on.

Landscape Rescue
Date: Flexible
Location: Weil Family Center; 10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE
Details: Spring has treated the plants (and weeds) at our Weil Family Center very well. So well that now we need a volunteer or two to help us get rid of unwanted roots and trim back bushes and small trees.
Time and day are flexible. Let us know what day would work for you.

Data Entry
Dates: Flexible, once per week: Monday-Thursday, mornings
Location: 1028 Eubank Blvd. NE, Suite F.
Details: We are preparing for a software integration and need to get our data in tip-top shape for transfer. We need one (1) person to come into our Administrative office to do data entry once per week for a couple of hours through June.

Father's Day Basket
Date: Friday, June 14
Location: 1028 Eubank Blvd. NE, Suite F.
Details: Father's Day is almost here! We are looking for one (1) volunteer to put together a gift basket to celebrate. Items could include toiletries, treats, gift cards, cool tools, sports items or others. Basket should be dropped off to our Administrative Office by Friday, June 15.

Campus Clean-Up
Date: Saturday, June 22
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Location: Weil Family Center, 10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112
Details: Help us keep the campus a wonderful place to live and play for our families. The projects in these monthly events vary, but can include landscaping, cleaning, painting and organizing. Bring a friend or the whole family- all ages welcome!

Bed Setup and Furniture Assembly

Homemade Casseroles and Cookies

Details: Interested in cooking and baking to welcome our new families? We love to stock our incoming families' fridges with ready to go meals and treats for their first days at Saranam. Here is what we need:
- 10 Homemade Frozen Casseroles (1 per family)
- 10 Dozen Cookies (1 per family)
- Must be in disposable or donated container and marked with any common allergens (nuts, wheat, eggs, soy) and cooking instructions (casseroles)
- Need delivered on Saturday, August 10th

Orientation Lunches

Details: Want to share some love in delicious food form? We would like to serve a couple of homemade meals for lunch during our families' orientation. Meals will need to feed 15 people and dropped off by 11:00 on the 19th and 23rd.
*We will provide drinks, plates, napkins and cutlery.

Learning happens year-round at Saranam! We have opportunities to help our adult learners stay on track for their GED and degree programs and to help our kids keep their brains active throughout the summer.

Details: We have several parents working on their GED exams and would like tutoring help to feel confident and prepared. We can be flexible with scheduling and will work with you to set up a good time to regularly meet.

Summer Family Night Volunteers

Details: Learning doesn't end when the school bells ring. We offer our family nights throughout June and July. We recommend volunteering at least every other week but we can be flexible around summer plans as well.

Mortgage Specialist

Details: On June 1 we are hosting a home-buying panel for our alumni. We are hoping to have a mortgage specialist who can provide information about the home buying process and advice to make it a positive experience, particularly with low-income and first-time buyers.

Early Reader Books

Details: We have some eager young readers looking for some good books! If you have some K-2 books, we would love to distribute them to our alumni and grow a whole new generation of book lovers. You can drop them off at our Administrative offices Monday-Thursday from 11-3:30.

Hobby Prize Baskets

Details: Our Alumni Reunion won't just have fun things to do, we will be giving out a couple of prize baskets to attendees. We are looking for someone (or a group of someones) to put together a couple of baskets that will help alumni celebrate and dig into a fun hobby. We are asking for:
-A cooking/baking basket
-A gardening basket
We would like to have our prizes in hand by August 1.

These are the PERFECT projects for groups. Whether you have a book club, church group or a close group of friends, there are some a fun ways to make holidays and celebrations special for our families.

Easter Baskets (starting 2025)
Date: March(ish)
Location: ADC Campus
Details: The Easter Bunny comes to Saranam every year! We love to provide the kids with a basket full of fun goodies to make it a memorable holiday. Some of the items in the baskets have included:
-books
-candy (is it even a celebration without sugar?)
-spring outdoor activities like bubbles or chalk
We typically need 20-30 baskets each year. We will send you the ages and genders of our kids in late January so you can get your bunny shopping all ready.

Holiday Stockings
Date: beginning-mid October
Location: ADC Campus
Details: One of the most beloved traditions of our families is getting a stocking for each of their kids. Each stocking is filled with something from the heart that a child of the age would enjoy, such as:
-warm hat
-a good book
-small toy
-candy (of course)
We anticipate between 20-30 kids. We will send you the ages and genders of our kids in October so you have plenty of time to brainstorm and put them together.
