Celebrate and Honor Juneteenth in SoIN

Now a federally recognized holiday, Juneteenth has been celebrated in the U.S. on June 19 since 1865. The holiday marks the day that Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas to deliver news of the Emancipation Proclamation – more than two years after the proclamation was made by President Lincoln. This news meant that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were finally free.

Observe this national holiday while honoring Black and African American History during Juneteenth celebrations in Southern Indiana, including a block party and free live concerts.

Explore the SoIN Fun Trail

Have your best summer ever when you join the SoIN Fun Trail, a free digital passport connecting you to Southern Indiana attractions, restaurants, shops and more. Use the passport from now through September 2 to enjoy a fun time with family, friends or flying solo. With each check-in, you’ll earn points, which you can use to “shop” for gift cards to your favorite spots in SoIN, or use your points to rack up entries for the grand prize drawing.

Each summer in downtown New Albany, Bicentennial Park is home to a FREE recurring Friday night music series. Shows are from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Catch Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters with The Ian Abel Trio on June 7 and The Jesse Lees with Tyrone Cotton for a special Juneteenth show on June 14.

The Jammin’ in Jeff FREE summer concert series returns to Jeffersonville's RiverStage this June! The series kicks off June 7 with The Juice Box Heroes and Wax Factory. Enjoy a special Juneteenth show on June 15 featuring En Vogue, Chika and more! 

Enjoy FREE live music at the Town of Clarksville's "Good Times" summer concert series, held on the central green outside Bolt + Tie in Clarksville. Concerts are 6 – 11 p.m. one Saturday a month through August. Enjoy music, food trucks and a beer garden hosted by TEN20 Craft Brewery. On June 8, catch The Echoes opening for headliners From Paris.

The Summer 5k Wine Run returns to Huber's Orchard & Winery on June 22, from 9 - 11 a.m. Enjoy the race through the scenic Huber's Farm, concluding with a complimentary glass of wine or cider. Registration prices vary.

It’s your last chance to catch Southern Indiana FC at home for the season! This month’s home matches are SIFC vs. FK Han on June 1 and SIFC vs. Jackson TN Boom on June 15. Matches are scheduled from 7 - 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for youth aged 3-17, and free for children 2 and under.
